About Me

In late 2002, Davus Ware, having been in an alternative rock band for some time, decided he needed to form a heavier act, truer to his inspirations. After jamming with another guitarist he met at work, they decided to hunt down a bassist. Through a chance encounter, Davus met Gary Berg. After a brief audition, Gary was added on bass. They focused on writing grunge rock mixed with thrash and hardcore metal. After a few months of on-again-off-again practicing, Davus came up with the idea to part with the rhythm guitarist and form a heavier band. He called up his old friend Josh Beavers to come audition. Gary embraced the heavier aspect immediately. Now writing songs based around the old school thrash they grew up on, the band started to take shape. Davus and Gary then put up flyers advertising for a drummer and singer. The first to answer the call was a singer.
Jared Konkle impressed both of them with his amazing ability to scream his way through Davus' guitar riffs. With no drummer on board, the band focused on writing material. Not happy with the mainstream metal scene, they took their own path by writing thrashy old-school guitar metal. They dubbed it "Bouncy" Metal. With odd time signatures and slashing guitar riffs they knew they had something unique that would stand out from the Hatebreed clones.
Thor was discovered by hitting up the local drum instructor. When asked who he recommended for a drummer, he threw out one name: Thor. Thor came over that day to audition. 5 minutes of pounding the skins the way only a god can, Davus and Gary gladly welcomed him aboard. The band, still dubbed Incursion at the time was finally complete. After a few months of writing and a few set-backs with schedule conflicts and not meeting goals, the band parted ways with Josh.
In 2005, after a name change to Via Noctis, the band recorded thier first 5 song CD, called Enslave the Weak. After a show thier first show at Ryan's Bar, they played The Main Stage in Green Bay and tore the house down. The band then began writing new material and playing throughout the Fox Valley Area.
In 2006, the band recorded their first full-length album, Inspire a Nightmare, recorded at DW Studios. The title track has been featured on the Local Edge radio show several times. The band played often at Ryan's bar, prior to it changing hands. They then moved on to headlining regularly at Raven's Nightclub and venturing down south to play in Madison and Harvard, IL.
In 2007, after the instrumental recording of their second album, Working Class, the band parted ways with Jared for professional reasons. Bring on "The Payne". Tim Payne auditioned for the band, and was asked to join the band on the spot. Davus, Gary and Thor felt Tim's vocal range, writing ability and instrumental background would add to the already excellent lineup. The band is now re-working all its material to incorporate Tim's input and style. The band is aiming to begin playing out again in early 2008. The upcoming album will be re-recorded with Tim and will be the most powerful music you've heard from us yet.

The End

Via Noctis has decided to call it quits. Not due to any personal issues but mainly to pursue other band opportunities. Gary and Davus plan to continue writing music in the studio. Hopefully marketing ...
