About Me

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter." - Dr. Seuss
MOLLY IVINS
8.30.1944 - 1.31.2007

"The United States of America is still run by its citizens. The government works for us. Rank imperialism and warmongering are not American traditions or values. We do not need to dominate the world. We want and need to work with other nations. We want to find solutions other than killing people. Not in our name, not with our money, not with our children's blood."
"I believe all Southern liberals come from the same starting point -- race. Once you figure out they are lying to you about race, you start to question everything."
"The next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be president of the United States, please, pay attention."
My interests, in no particular order:

My Scots-Irish-Cherokee ancestry, Scotland & Ireland, Celtic arts of all kinds, pottery, Great Pyrenees & Belgian Tervurens, swords, dark chocolate, amber & crystals, sustainable living, dragonflies, strawbale construction, men - in kilts preferably, living in the mountains, intentional communities, good whisky, stained glass, Oberhasli goats, reading, learning new things, dragons, meeting people, movies - lots of movies.
I make my living with my hands. I offer Reiki, Jin Shin Do, CranioSacral Therapy, Reflexology, & Aromatherapy. I went to school to learn to be an LMP, what one friend calls a "muscle mechanic", but learned early on that I'm actually an energy worker. If you're around the Puget Sound area & want to give yourself a peaceful hour or two, drop me a line & we'll schedule your appointment.
Favorite quotes:
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom--go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!"
~ Samuel Adams, August 1, 1776 Philadelphia
"If all else fails, I will retreat up the valley of Virginia, plant my flag on the Blue Ridge, rally around the Scotch-Irish of that region, and make my last stand for liberty amongst a people who will never submit to British tyranny whilst there is a man left to draw a trigger."
~ George Washington, at Valley Forge
"You're not to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it."
~ Malcolm X
"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble makers. The round pegs in square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? We make tools for these kinds of people. While some see them as the crazy ones, We see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
~ Anonymous
"Place your clothes & your weapons where you can find them in the dark."
~ Robert Heinlein
"Did you ever notice how in the Bible whenever God needs to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"
~ Thomas, The Prophecy

"If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you."
~ Oscar Wilde
“Faith is not simply a patience that passively suffers until the storm is past. Rather, it is a spirit that bears things - with resignations, yes, but above all, with blazing, serene hope.”
~ Corazon Aquino
"It's hard to fly by the seat of your pants when you're wearing a kilt."
~ Taken with impunity from PiperKev 's profile.
"Nessa, shut your mouth. "
~ You know me too well LOL

You don't have to be Scots or Irish to wear a kilt, just a man.

My Interests

Men in kilts! Naturally ;)

Gerard Butler on IMDb

My Cap'ns

Rogues, Rascals
& Renegades

I'd like to meet:

Gerard Butler. Like you wouldn't.

If you want to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of images & info about him go to Gerard Butler.net . I haven't even made a dint in viewing it all. But this image of him by the fire in Beowulf & Grendel has been added to my favorites.

It's not all about eye-candy. There are many men who are beautiful, but not intriguing; or intriguing, but not beautiful. Then there's Gerard. From all I've found out about him, he's the whole package. He has a wicked sense of humor, genuine warmth, & tons of charm. And, the man wears kilts, armor & fur, like nobody's business.
Mmmmmmm ... Ah, yeah, that would be me circling right back 'round to the eye-candy. God I miss Scotland!

It's official, I've become addicted to YouTube.com in less than 24 hours. It was painless, I simply watched some of the fan vids of Gerry. If you have a few minutes watch them.

Music:

Music I like
Just about anything Celtic.
Especially Loreena McKennitt ,
The Wicked Tinkers , Bonnie Rideout ,
Lothlorien . After that it rapidly turns
eclectic: Wayra , Sting , Evanescence ,
Dido , The Righteous Brothers , Jimmy Buffet , Jevetta Steele , Pavarotti , Merle Haggard , Maxwell , Seal , & Tori Amos
I'm going with the flow right now,
but welcome suggestions of who
you like. I'll check'em out.
Discovered Cafe Cody over the holidays.
A gorgeous blend of jazz, ambient, & international music broadcast from Mallorca, Spain.
The music I like on MS:
Morgan the Bard .
Sacred
Omnia
Fireproof

Movies:

Random sampling of what's on my
shelf, or soon will be:
Serenity which was a birthday
gift from my daughter.
The Lion in Winter
We're No Angels
The 13th Warrior
Braveheart
Dear Frankie
Cutthroat Island
The Full Monty
Boys in Company C
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
An Inconvenient Truth
Practical Magic
Seven Samurai
Brokeback Mountain
Leon: The Professional
A Knight's Tale
Army of Darkness
Beowulf & Grendel
Songcatcher
Stage Beauty
Pirates of the Caribbean(all)
Plunkett & MacLeane
Kinky Boots
There are so many more,
but the list would be endless.
FWIW ~ We don't watch nuetered
movies. Anytime the "edited for
blah, blah, blah, and content"
blurb comes on the screen the
channel is switched, or the DVD player
fires up.
The director edited for content.
I want to see what the director
envisioned, not what some shadowy
censor thinks I should see. Which gives
you some idea why I own so many
movies.
Recently watched MirrorMask from Neil Gaiman, and Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremount with Dame Joan Plowright & Rupert Friend. I can recommend both, although you might not want to watch them on the same night. ;)

Television:

Supernatural, House, Medium,
Bones, NCIS, The Late,Late Show,
Tartan TV, NOW
FireFly on DVD ~ also a birthday gift
from my daughter (Raise'em right you
get good loot for your birthdays! lol)
ADDICTIONS
Jeff Morgan
I've watched this man die twice in as
many weeks ~ on two different
shows! First on Grey's Anatomy
as Denny, and on Supernatural
as John Winchester. Becky says he also
took a dirt nap on a Sliders episode
she saw recently.
Jeff! Dammit man, you need a new
agent! One who can read scripts &
negotiate that your scenes be shot
far, far away from hospital beds!
I've been told Jeff showed up on Rachel
Ray's show & cooked something without
dying. He was there as himself, so no
wonder he walked away unscathed.
It's his characters who lack a healthy
survival instinct apparently.
I don't watch Grey's Anatomy, conflicts
with my Supernatural addiction on Thursday
nights, but last week was a rerun, and I hit
the jackpot! Jeff was on Grey's Anatomy
during alot of the episode trying to talk
whatsername through her NDE. Yes!
Honestly, I'd toss her butt off the
ferry every week if Jeff would be on
the show.

Firefly ~ Serenity

The man you hear laughing in the distance is
PiperKev. His cruelty knows no bounds as he
spreads the contagion that is Firefly to folk.
He knows full well that there are only a
handful of episodes to enjoy once you
succumb. He doesn't care. He just laughs
as you don your Browncoat and take the oath.
We will not go quietly into the night
We will not give in without a Big Damn Fight
We are Browncoats, and we know we are right
We will rage, rage against the dying of our engine light.

Books:

Diana Gabaldon
Kresley Cole
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Mandy Roth
Angela Knight
Shannon McKenna
Neil Gaiman
Laurell Hamilton
Stephen King
John Sanford
Lara Adrian
Eileen Wilks
MaryJanice Davidson
Katie MacAlister
and the list goes on ...

Heroes:

The Who Called Us site which allows you to enter the phone numbers of annoying calls to see exactly what company is cluttering up your voicemail.
Helps keep my blocked numbers list well fed. ;)
