Born and raised in the South American country of Guyana, I, "Dream I", the middle child of five siblings, have always been a loner. As a youngster I was very guarded, and never really communicated much with anyone except for my mother. Although it was this very pattern of isolation that ultimately fueled my creativity, it also made it increasingly difficult for me to relate to other people while growing up.
What's more, years of internalizing my emotions made it nearly impossible to control my temper, confining I in a world of solitude and rage. Fortunately, as an early teen I discovered that I could free myself through music, and I have been singing every since. Thus my music became my primary means of expressing myself, but it was not until years later that I found the courage to make music my life's purpose.
Over the years I've been influenced by the genius of musicians like Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Luciano and others. Many of whom I was fortunate to see perform live. However seeing Papa San perform as a teenager in Guyana made a lasting impression on me. Not only did he have an amazing stage presence, but also his versatility included being able to sing a song from beginning to end, and then repeating the same song from end to beginning; it was like nothing I had ever seen.
I think it was on that day that the seeds of my destiny were planted. Thanks in large part to the Father and the countless blessings He has bestowed upon me, and the many people whom He placed in my life to encourage me along the way I'm finally at a place where I can witness my dreams coming to fruition. It is my hope that in years to come my efforts will prove a worthy tribute to many influences, and perhaps, also, as an inspiration to aspiring musicians everywhere.
