INTERNAL AUGMENTATION started in 2004 as an incomplete band, with no vocals or bass, and three members: Shane Smith (Guitar), Mick Brennan (Guitar) and Sean Hasler (Drums).
They met Alex Eynstone in early to mid 2005, who was a drummer and, after playing with him, brought him into the band as the drummer. So Sean thus decided to start learning bass. As a four-piece with new motivation, IA began to work on their first four songs for their first demo. Once ready, the band traveled to Bayside Rehearsal Studios in Melbourne to record their '2005 Demo'. Upon return they were offered their first gig with an alternative band that are now known as Papercuts. Although the band played without vocals and incomplete basslines, the debut gig was a success, and they played another gig at Boucher Hall before the end of the year.
In 2006 IA began new tracks and Shane was forced to temporarily drop vocals. So the band asked Tim Stewart to join as the vocalist to work on the new songs with them. They played several gigs with Tim, including the first round of the Battle of the Bands, which they won.
Shortly afterwards, the band decided that Tim wasn't suited to Internal Augmentation, so he parted with it and Shane took up vocals again. Not long after Tim, Sean decided to leave the band due to work commitments. So the band was again a three-piece. They played as a trio throughout the rest of 2006, and played at Metal Madness in October. They also recorded another four track demo late in the year as a trio, entitled 'Wrapped In Thorns Demo'.
2007 brought Internal Augmentation a good and proper bassist: Will Guarnaccia from Lakes Entrance. IA is now working on new, more technical songs with Will, and are hoping to record again soon.
