About Me

About Little Tom
I'm a Producer, DJ and MC living in York. I usually write Trip-Hop and Drum 'n' Bass but don't mind branching out into the worlds of house, techno, soul and funk. I've been writing tunes for about eight years. I'm well into the technology side of music production and spend most of my time playing with fx and soft synths. When I'm not doing that I'm endlessly hacking up drum loops. Generally I don't venture out of York to perform so you'll probably never hear of me again unless I get signed to a big record label and become a superstar.
Sorry But...
THE TUNES ON THIS PROFILE ARE NO LONGER AVALABLE FOR DOWNLOAD. SHORTLY I'M GOING TO UPLOAD THE TRACKS AT A HIGHER QUALITY COMPRESSION BUT FOR NOW THEY STILL CONTAIN CONTAIN GLITCHES SO DOWNLOADERS COULDN'T GET PERFECT COPIES. I DID THIS BECAUSE I'M TIGHT AND I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF MY TUNES FLYING AROUND THE INTERNET FOR FREE.
ABOUT THE TRACKS ON THIS SITE
TIME IS RUNNING
Two Songs for the price of one. I hope you listen to this one through because the best bit's are at the end (that doesn't mean you should just skip it forwards). The track is sequenced partly in Acid and partly in Cubase. The bass is made from samples as are the drums. Most of the weird effects are made using a concoction of Absynth 3, Atares Filter VST, Orange Vocoder, Sound Forge and a selection of Ohm Boyz effects. The big dirty synth is made using the Korg Legacy VST and some of the effects listed above. The Vocal Samples come from Carlitos Way and Flutterman's Rule (by the Beastie Boys). Oh and theres a few roandom scratch effects using the Kaoss Pad. I don't like the way this track first kicks in to D'n'B so I might change it later if can be bothered.
TEN BANANA CREAM PIES
I wanted to take a step back from doing manic drumbeats and deep sound collages for a bit and just write something for fun. The sound quality of this track is probably the best I've ever managed. Mainly due to the fact that there isn't a vast number of instruments, pads, strings and sfx to muddy things up.
WHAT THE F*CK
This one you'll either love or hate. It's offensive unapologetic. In my defense I've heard worse tunes in the charts with less artistic merit and lacking the slightly comical edge this brings. It's a dance floor banger with attitude and a bloody mint time stretched vocal half way through (if I do say so myself).
WHAT IS TRIP HOP
Nice and chilled with a few scratches and a big finish. This one took me ages... It's made using all my favorite VST's - Sample Tank, EVP73, Korg Legacy, Antares Filter etc. It may not be the most interesting or catchy tune I've ever written but it's warm and melodic and probably the most similar sounding track to Bonobo who is without question one of my favorite artists.
All Tunes Were Mastered Using...
PSP vintage warmer, Waves C4, Timeworks mastering compressor, the Ultramaximizer and the BBE Sonic Maximiser.
I hope this has been eductional. please feel free to rate the tunes and tell me what you think, I take criticism well!

All the awesome scratch DJ's past and present, all things D&B and all things Hip-Hop. Soul, Jazz and even a bit of funky house when it's done well. Pretty much everything released on Ninja Tune, Warp, Big Dada and Mo Wax.
drums and sounds.
Sounds Like: I love chilled instrumental hip-hop but also hard or very technical drum&bass. So I guess my sound falls anywhere between those two points.
