DIE MUSIK IST UNSERE LEBENSKRAFT/ res severa verum gaudium

About Me

Im a musician that enjoys being around people who likes music and art. I'm a bit chubby now, but getting back in shape, even though timing seems to be an issue. I was born in Colon, Republic of Panama and now live in New York City. I do perform often in a variety of different settings and styles. I enjoy teaching adults and children strings in the NY Public School System and in a Private studio in New Jersey. I studied at the Panama National University, Shawnee State University and at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. I was formally a clarinetist since elementary school (La Salle), but my heart was has always been set on the violin. Recently began playing the flute and for quite some years I've been playing VIOLA, and my curiosity has taken me to play the DOUBLEBASS and el Tres cubano. I play around the tri state area in many ensembles, churches, etc as section leader and concertmaster, including Bloomingdale Chamber Orchestra, Panamerican Symphony, Summit Symphony, Plainfield Symphony and The Roy Prescod Chorale to mention a few. most recently with the SGI EAST TERRITORY Orchestra. In the past 22 years I had toured dancing and as a violinist with the Ballet Folklorico de Panama, Ballet Folklorico de La Loteria Nacional de Panama and while I was still in Panama I performed with the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil and The Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional as well as Curundu Chamber Orchestra, Caribbean Chamber Ensemble, Conjunto Mamey (cuban dance music) with Anel Sanders. And of course I did Mariachi, Pop music, Panamanian Folk, Bluegrass with some friends from The Armed Forces Band stationed in The Canal Zone (those were the good days) and Thanks to some of them I got involved in Musical Theater. Every year they used to have a few productions done, but the ones I cherished and enjoyed the most were Fiddler on The Roof, Little Mary Sunshine and Once Upon a Mattress. I do often perform with Tor Snyder, Ravish Momin, Zak Sherzad in an Contemporary Jazz Ensemble. I'm assistant music director and violinist for Children's Theater Company, and direct The St Gregory the Great spanish choir. And also worked as Administrative Assistant to Violinist Nina Beilina"s Bachanalia chamber orchestra. Every summer I do a lot of crazy stuff, but I also attend Berklee School Of Music and I had such an uplifting experience with Matt Glasser, Eugene Friesen, Christian Howes, John Blake Jr. and Rob Thomas. If I could, would drop everything and go to Berklee. Performances at Kaplan Penthouse @ Lincoln Center with Guitar player Tor Snyder, SGI Cultural Center in NY, United nations, NY1, Hunter College, New Haven University, NJ PAC, Town Hall among many....... I also have attended masterclasses and studied with many great artists among them: Jane Peters, Regina Carter, Emiko Shinozaki, Matthew Reichert, Beverly Somach, Nina Beilina, Ben Breen, Kenneth Sarch, Christophe Pioget, Carmit Zori, Luis Haza, Sanford Allen, Erick Friedmann, Lisa Kim (ny phil), Judith Insell(viola). On the first saturday of every month i perform Latin Jazz, Salsa and old classics in CAMARADAS, a Spanish Harlem Bar with a group called CAFE lead by Trumpeter Enrique Medina. And I'm almost done with a recording of Mozart sonatas and the classic Cesar Franck Violin sonata. Recently formed a duet with Panamenian flute player Roberto Pitre which whom I'm, working on a recording of repertoire for Flute and Violin.
