THE DJ VANDALS.76 multiplied by 7 and divided by 5 equals 221. That's maths. But the Vandals are not mathematicians. So how were they to know that Vu plus Handles would equal them. The Vandals. Well i guess they could have seen the link between the letters and their names. but lets not digress. What they did foresee when they came together was party mayhem, bad hair dos/donts and conflicting fashion sense, all wrapped up in a love of music - party music, serious music, hip hop, hip house, blog house, fidget, baltimore, indie, rock, pop, ghetto, tech and even electro (no - not electro i hear you gasp). They like to party and they LOVE to rock the party.Vu was once a drummer but turned to dj'ing when he realised turntables took up less room in his bedroom than a drumkit (and therefore left more room for his ever growing wardrobe of fashion attempts). Handles was a dancer but turner to dj'ing when he realised he couldn't dance. They turned to each other when they realised dj'ing was fun alone, but like sex, better with someone else. Ever since this realisation, they have been doing it together - rocking floors across the country. They are Sydney residents at the country's best known and most popular weekly event - One Love - at Tank - winner of club of the year on numerous occasions - where they keep the kids dancing to the early hours of Sunday morning. They have played at every other club in Sydney and have played on the bill with a growing list of internationals including Tiga, Surkin, Headman, 1gnition, Yuksek, Malente, Audiojack, Til West and DJ Delicious, Mr Thing (Scratch Perverts), Kris Menace, Alan Braxe, Avenue D and Hot Chip not to mention just about every big local act. They are as comfortable in the mainroom as they are in the backroom and probably in your bedroom. But that's another story.With Handles writing contracts full time at Central Station and Vu writing tracks full time in the studio, a Vandals ep is on its way. You WILL be hearing more of these guys.
