I'm just a mom with two incredible sons - one of them is having the hardest time of his life. He has a disorder called Intracranial Hypertension (also known as Pseudotumor Cerebri). It's nasty! The Get Together Foundation and Earthly Body (www.earthlybody.com) MADE it possible to have THE FRIENDS BENEFIT CONCERT at BB KINGS, Universal City Walk, October 4th of 2006 and THE FRIENDS BENEFIT 2 at SAGEBRUSH CANTINA July 3rd of 2007 for public awareness and research funding for the Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation.BOTH CONCERTS WERE TOTAL SUCCESSES!!!The first concert at B.B. Kings was live webcammed around the World, we made money for the IH Foundation, Tim Piper made two incredible music DVDs called "Robbie Can You Hear Me" and "Jessica" for IH awareness, our story was front-page news Oct. 4th, 2006 (San Luis Obispo Tribune) called "A Song For A Cure", four wonderful groups of old friends (Pacific, Skyline, The Pipers and Chadwick) joined together to have 25-30 year individual reunions, along with two more bands (Mad Jones Band and Working Class Hero) joining in for the cause. AWESOME night - incredible new and old friends! The second concert at Sagebrush Cantina (cudos to Sagebrush for donating the venue for our cause) doubled our tickets sales, we doubled the donation to The Intracranial Hypertension Foundation, we were in numerous articles including the Los Angeles Times on August 22, 2007 (see blog), we had friends comes together for a second time after many years (30) - Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries, Pacific, and Fellowship (they all rocked), along with another generation of support from Say I'm Sick. Another old friend from back in the 70s - Erich Anderson of television and movie fame - was at Sagebrush as our Master of Ceremonies. We had donations from Starbucks, Trader Joes, Northridge Skateland and MANY, MANY more for our raffle (THANK YOU EVERYONE). And again we had a TOTAL SUCCESS! There were people at Sagebrush Cantina from all over the United States joining in with our cause, including Amy and Jessica Tanne from The Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation. We're hoping to make July 3rd an annual event for The Friends Benefit, along with whatever concerts and awareness projects that happen along the way.PLEASE CONTINUE TO WATCH THE FRIENDS BENEFIT MYSPACE - GOOD STUFF IS HAPPENING AND WE'RE GROWING BY THE MINUTE! IT'S ALL GOOD!!!!!
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS TO THE GET TOGETHER FOUNDATION, OUR INCREDIBLE BANDS, VOLUNTEERS, SPONSORS, THE TANNE FAMILY, THE IHR FOUNDATION - PRETTY MUCH ALL OF OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!!!AND WE'RE READY TO DO IT AGAIN . . .
