Who is Davey Pwnz? To people who know me I am Dave Cottrell, someone who to describe as musically obsessed would be a vast undestatement! A musician for practically all of my life I have a love for music music that surpasses what most people would consider legal! I am a guitarist, a pianist, a drummer, a singer and a digital music enthusiast. I currently play in a new rock band called Motorboat Conspiracy in which I am the lead guitarist, possibly with some keys... who knows. This is the page for my more obscure musical musings, for my acoustic and electronica dabblings and generaly a place for me to rant!
I think my philosophy on music is best explained by Imogen Heap when she says music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry. I love to be overwhelmed and that happens pretty often for me, whether its by the last four beats of a song before the big bass line kicks in or the way the sun reflects off water when I’m driving down the motorway. (I try to be poetic, but I’m not :P)
I believe that Imogen Heap and Dave Grohl are our modern day Mozarts and are true musical geniuses. I also believe that Coheed and Cambria are absolute legends. I am constantly on the look out for new and exciting music and I love it when people take electronic music and live music and mix it well.
As for my music the best way to describe is to have you listen to the tracks, depending on what tracks are up at the moment will vastly shape whether or not you’re into what I’m doing. Some weeks it can be electro, some weeks acoustic, some weeks instrumental, some weeks experimental. One thing I will not do is confine myself to a genre, and if that makes me commercially unacceptable then so be it!
A firm believer that I may not be the best musician in the world but I’m the best person at doing what I do. All that’s left now is to shape what "I do" into something great and see what happens.
