It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to MySpace where I will keep you updated on my forthcoming events as well as uploading some tasty streaming mixes.
If you are yet to hear the sounds of Lady Legato then feast your ears at the standalone player. Her unique style on decks meticulously fuses a range of genres showcasing her skills and diversity.
From the age of six she was classically trained in Piano, Cello, Double Bass and Voice performing Classical, Folk and Jazz; as well as playing Calypso on the Steel Pans during high school. As her interests in rhythm and melodics grew, her flamboyancy glistened as a pianist and composer. She co-wrote production musicals at school and flourished in Contemporary and Jazz performances by college.
“I have vast influences that make my turntablist sound…. Growing up, music was all around me and I always had the urge to seek more… I continuously yearned to hear something different, something fresh, something extraordinary! My mind needed that music-stimulation. I grew up listening to and performing an array of genres… … The Legato concept originated from memoirs of piano lessons Legato - A directive to perform a certain passage in a smooth, graceful, connected style coincides with what my sound is all aboutâ€
Upon discovering electronic music, Lady Legato became engrossed with the scene and took to the turntables; moreover, her interest in the music industry grew. On completion of her degree in Music Industry Management with Marketing, she formed her own promotion “Je Ne Sais Quoi†in and around London, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and Buckinghamshire.
“I would describe my sound as “World Music†fusion of “Old Vs New†incorporating elements of Funk, Jazz, Soul, Afro-Beat, Broken-Beat, Deep/Tech/ House and Electronicaâ€
In 2005-06, she travelled and entertained her sounds showcasing in LA, Thailand and at several venues in Australia.
Concentrating on her career, future productions and entrepreneuring her distribution business, Lady Legato is set to continue her journey within her passion.
