EMERGENCY EXIT

About Me

Hello. It's Aaron, aka Mechum in some circles, or the Cuban Sensation in others. (I could go on.) I am Enlightened/To Sing/A Leader of the People. I understand a little bit about my purpose and identity in Christ, but mainly I'm trying to figure myself out. I understand that God's Word, as inspired by the Holy Spirit and manifested through Jesus, is the ONLY source of truth and the ONLY way to salvation. My aim to love Jesus. In the end, I'm here to keep fulfilling the Father's will and live in such a way that I'm pleasing Him, 'cuz being a LIVING SACRIFICE is the sincerest form of worship. I often fall short of this goal, but I'm often working on myself, even at my worst. I'm a flawed human being; I can be selfish and judgmental, but I'm nice, I'm tender-hearted, and I mean well. Much love to all my peoples! (1 Peter 1:22-23) This reminds me of what the Body is supposed to be like. That's all. (myspace.com/n8ion) MOHAWK pt.1 - I hesitate to see the results of my experimental mohawk a la Jermaine... How will I react...? (duhn, duhn DUHHHHN!) I apologize to Chris (Gummo) for the severe lack of airtime he received in this video. He is the prettiest in this house. (Jermaine debates this claim. So does Billy.) Sorry, Chris, I was hecka nervous. It's my intention that he and Billy get a video of their own. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My Interests

Introspection and observation, music, life and progress, Nureau Ink, piano, drawing, roller coasters, eating, doing kinda well in school, America's Next Top Model, and probably some other stuff...lol. I heart art, and I'm starting to get into photography. My most meaningful pursuit in life is constantly elevating and personalizing an authentic relationship with Christ. To God be the glory! I'm also known to be constantly dancing or singing, though I don't do either particularly really well... lol!

I'd like to meet:

Because I strive to work on myself, I like to walk closely with those who follow God authentically and exclusively, but if you're not, we can def still be cool. I'd like to meet some REAL, cool, purpose-driven persons to walk alongside. I'd also like to meet the Nureaumericans and Inkians, 'cuz they encourage me to walk uprightly... James 1:22!!! Additionally, any persons wishing to impart their insights and share their true selves and experiences. Friendship is meant to edify... Proverbs 17:17. And TYRA BANKS, of course. That goes without saying.

* * * * * READ: AND I DON'T MEAN TO BE A SNOB, but if we've never met and you'd like to add me as a friend, please give me some indication of who you are, or why you wanna add me... No stupid introductions or attempts at flattery, please. Sorry, I just don't like adding complete strangers... You know how it is. It's all love, though!* * * * *

Music:

I love music, especially music that uplifts God. As a consumer, I've become disillusioned with the music industry, but there's still a lot of great stuff out there. Nureau INK. I love Tonex... Oak Park, Out the Box, The London Letters, all of it. He's bold and original, and I respect him on a number of levels. He's the man! T. Bizzy is crazy... myspace.com/tbizzy92105. My fav song of all time is "Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)" feat. Tevin Campbell, and Darin Atwater's "Father We Adore Thee" is positively the most beautiful, celestial song I've ever heard. Richard Smallwood appeals to my musical sense perhaps more than any other. I admire the honesty and conviction behind Kirk Franklin's music. Tye Tribbett & G.A. minister to me, and their Victory record is so amazing and dynamic. Tribe is destined for greatness... Rickey too. Life music. Worship. Old-school Integrity music. I love music that excites me, life music, testimonial music, musical climaxes, cool chord progressions, music that makes me wanna cry. Some 'secular,' but not a ton... Beyonce, Earth Wind & Fire, Brandy, and others. The entire INKset!!! Music is way cool, man.

Movies:

The Wizard of Oz, Finding Forrester, The Village, Legally Blonde, Finding Nemo, BAPS, I, Robot, The Little Mermaid (LOVE those ad-libbin' flamingos!!!!!), Crash, The Cable Guy, School Daze, Coming to America, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Shining, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, The Passion of the Christ, The Triplets of Belleville, Man on Fire, Reign Over Me, Ray, Bamboozled, and a bunch of others that I can't recall right now. I basically like family/kid movies, movies shedding spiritual/moral/social insight, and black folk movies... hehe! Oh, and I wanna see "PERSEPOLIS" when it comes out! Let's go together!

Television:

America's Next Top Model, The Simpsons, Daria, Project Runway, The King of Queens, Scrubs, Family Matters, The Cosby Show, A Different World, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Apprentice, Big Brother, King of the Hill, All in the Family, Roseanne, Family Guy, Doug, Rugrats, other OLD SCHOOL NICKELODEON SHOWS, some seasons of The Real World, and some others that I can't recall right now. Sure, I definitely watch too much TV at home, but TV is an important gauge of our status as a society. And there's something to be said about the proliferation of reality T.V. programming...

Books:

THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD, AND ENCOMPASSES THE SOLE AND AUTHORITATIVE TRUTH OF LIFE. That's what feeds me. I also love these books: As I Lay Dying, Great Expectations, Beloved, Erasure, The Awakening, This Boy's Life, The Catcher in the Rye, A Raisin in the Sun, The Scarlet Letter, The Second Shift, "Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?" and Other Conversations about Race, Hamlet, Old School, Wuthering Heights, Pride & Prejudice, Frankenstein, The Inferno, and others. Reading is really hard for me, but I loved many of the books I read in school. Thank GOD for literacy. My leisure reading list includes C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters, Dyson's Is Bill Cosby Right...?, T.D. JAKES' HE-MOTIONS, Howard Zinn's "A People's History..."

Heroes:

To be your own hero is beautiful, but to be a hero for someone else is more powerful. Jesus Christ fits the definition of "hero" exactly; I love Him. My other heroes are those who struggle to face the toils of life and remain driven to find meaning in it despite their imperfections. Mom. Dad. Alicia. My grandfathers, grandmothers, and other relatives... many Overcomers. Lori. Lily. Jermaine. Geoffrey. Yvette. Marcellus. Alex. Tonex. Dr. Terrell. Daria Morgendorrfer and Doug Funnie... lol! These are just some. It's important to acknowledge the people in your life whose example helps you to keep going.

My Apology

I hate operating on the arrogant supposition that I'm less vain and self-centered than "most people."  I can't place myself on any pedestal of greatness just because I happen to demonstrate my va...
