You've got to Bloom WHERE YOU'RE PLANTED

About Me

I'm a Detroitaholic!!! I can't help it. I was born and raised here and I'm not MOVING. But I love to travel (Especially New York City--- There's nothing like Harlem. 125th street on a busy Saturday morning is like Heaven FOR REAL!!) I just bought my first home. I LOVE IT!! It's a 3-story townhouse downtown. I am MANY things including a brother, uncle, son, nephew, cousin and friend. I've got GREAT friends (shoutout to Alonzo Westbrook, Jason Oliver, Dr. Adolph Brown III, Calvin Hughes and Carlton Houston-- THE FIVE MOST HONORABLE, INTELLIGENT AND AMAZING MEN A BROTHER COULD ASK FOR AS A FRIEND). I'm the son of George and Marcia Pugh. They died when I was young, so my grandmother (Margaret Pough)raised me. My step-mom Sonya Pugh has played a huge role in my life. "Hi mom!" My brother, Almondo Greer-Travis and his lovely wife Stacy are both Detroit Police Officers. I'm so proud of them. Shoutout to my two nieces and nephew: Tylar, Devin and Two. Shout out to my beautiful sister, Geoye.I graduated from the MIGHTY MURRAY-WRIGHT HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1989. R.I.P. Murray!! They closed my damn school! (i'm a little bitter. i'm sorry) I also graduated from the University of Missouri in 1993. I've worked as a television journalist at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. WKJG-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana. WAVY-TV in Norfolk, Virginia. Right now at FOX 2 (WJBK) in Detroit where I anchor the Saturday and Sunday morning 3-hour news shows with Deena Centofanti and report the news Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can visit: myfoxdetroit.com. I also work at FM-98 WJLB. Sometimes it's hard for me to believe that I'm on the SAME radio show that Mason used to host. I'll be on the air sometimes talking (and mid-sentence a thought will pop into my head "LOOK AT ME!! I'M ON THE DAMN RADIO!!") On WJLB, I do the news, weather, traffic, sports, lottery and general information WEEKDAY mornings with Coco, Foolish & Mr. Chase in the morning. I also host a talk show on Sunday evenings at 7 pm called "That's What's Up" on WJLB. You can visit: fm98wjlb.com. I'm also looking forward to my life beyond television and radio. Something else I'm proud of is my MUSICAL SELECTION. I looooooove music, as you will be able to see by exploring this page. PLEASE ENJOY. This music reflects who I am. Each artist I've chosen is very important to me. In fact, that life is beginning soon. I'm THIS CLOSE to throwing my hat in the ring for Detroit City Council. And I'm starting Charles Pugh Productions. I'm writing a book called "HOW TO REALLY CHANGE DETROIT." It'll be in stores in April 2009. Visit www.charlespughproductions.com (It's not developed yet. We're workin on it. We just registered the domain. Gotta start somewhere. LOL) What a life I have!!! I'm living my DREAMS. God, thank you. Here's one of the proudest moments of my life. I was honored to be given an award by the Incomparable Michigan Chronicle called THE MEN OF EXCELLENCE AWARD. Some of the honorees were Judge Damon Keith, Congressman John Conyers, Tiger Great Willie Horton, Dennis Archer and Don Barden. I was surprised they honored me in this illustrious group. These are men who I love and admire.
Another MAN OF EXCELLENCE I was fortunate enough to meet is the man MANY say will be the NEXT President of the United States, U.S. Senator Barack Obama. I sat down for a one-on-one interview with him when he visited Warren, Michigan on May 14, 2008. He was AMAZING!!Thank You to all of you who helped make the first ever RED TIE AFFAIR a success. Here's the mayor making a few comments during the affair about the importance of fighting HIV/AIDS, plus you get a chance to meet the love of my life, Michael, and hear his sweet voice.Wanna see something funny? Here's a quick look at me with hair (WAY BACK IN 1993 PLUS A TOUR OF MY HOUSE!!!There's also a brief tour of my job at FOX 2 -- AND SOME OF MY FAVORITE SPOTS IN DOWNTOWN DETROIT. ENJOY!!! .. It was one of the greatest thrills of my life:Here's Why I love her. MORE WENDY!!!I love Ellen ALMOST as much as I love Wendy and Oprah. But there's NOTHING I love more than seeing Ellen dance:WANNA SEE THE MOST AMAZING THING I'VE EVER DONE?? I was floating in the frickin air. OMG!! I got a chance to do a special NASA training maneuver mission. This is one way astronauts TRAIN for outer space by going on a plane like this one. We did special dips, twists and turns at 40,000 feet in the airspace over Lake Erie. It allowed us to suspend in martian gravity, lunar gravity and eventually ZERO GRAVITY. I was floating in the air, y'all!! FLOATING!!! This is the most amazing shit I've ever done!!! EVER!!

Oh my God! Does she not sound like her dad? The "FEMALE DONNY"Y'all sleep on LEDISI. She's amazin!! You can hear her music played on Mix 92.3 or 107.5 here in Detroit. If haven't seen the Clark Sisters in a while, here's why the world loves them: "BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED" (2007)Here is one of the Clark Sisters' most famous songs: YOU BROUGHT THE SUNSHINE (this is part of a tribute to their mom, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark)Donnie Hathaway has THE BEST VOICE of all male R&B singers (sorry Stevie). Movies:

Color Purple, Dreamgirls, Amistad, Tales from the Hood, When We Were Kings, The Wiz. Diana's version of "Home" FROM THE WIZ is THE BEST rendition of this song. Diana SANG this!!((I know Jennifer Hudson does an EXCELLENT job as Effie White in THE MOVIE "Dreamgirls", but NOBODY (nobody) sings "I'm not Going" like Jennifer Holliday. This is the live televised Tony Awards from 1982. Have u EVER seen ANYTHING like this? A live stage performance that will be remembered as probably THE BEST PERFORMANCE IN BROADWAY HISTORY. On broadway, Ms. Holliday is unmatchable!!!))

TWO OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE ON THE PLANET: Bill Bonds and Oprah Winfrey IN THE SAME INTERVIEW from 1988. I was 16 about to turn 17 and recorded this show and watched it 76 times. LOLMY FAVORITE TV SHOW USED TO BE "THE SCENE". I WOULD COME RUNNING IN THE HOUSE FROM PLAYING BASEBALL OR TENNIS TO SEE THE SCENE @ 6 O'CLOCK. Go 'head sing it!! "it's 6 o'clock and it's time to rock. 'Cuz we rock, non-stop, 'til 7 o'clock..."This NEXT CLIP is why they shouldn't let GAY PEOPLE on TV (I should be the ONLY one). Just joking. But this guy.. oh my God. (He actually would be cute without that damn fried-dyed-and-laid-to-the-side hair-don't)HELL TO THE NAW!!!!!!!!
