Syconaut was formed as a band in Skvde, Sweden the summer of '99 by the consistent taste for music. The very first demo known as 'MARCH OF A NEW DIVISION' was recorded between December 2000 - January 2001. Copies were sent out to all kind of metal labels, P3 Demo (Swedish national radio were 'God I Create' was played), metal magazines and miscellaneous music sites on the internet and got a very good response.
After som live apperances and line-up changes our concentration became to make our songs more aggresive and dynamical than the previous ones. That sums up our effort in the 2002 demo entitled 'SHREDLUST'.
Now... a long road has been travelled since the last demo. A change of vocalist, a change of attitude, a change to a new sound that explains why this bands name starts with "SYCO". The new demo "GEODESIC", containing five brand new songs, recorded in the winter of 2003 is truly our march to a new division. We hope you dig it!
2004 we got our first really big opportunity to play to a bigger crowd than before. "2000 Decibel", was the name of the festival we played at with bands as: The Haunted, Dark Tranquility and Trendkill. It turned out to be a show, that got many people to open their eyes, and understand, that this band is really coming on strong. 150-200 "Geodesic" Cd-Rs were made, and we sold out every singel one of 'em. Then we wanted to be "seen" even more, so we made approximately 100 t-shirts that also were sold out pretty quick. People got the chance to order from us through our website. Later that year, another one of a greater festival took place in our beloved hometown of "Swedish metal". A festival called "Gothenburg-party" (Göteborgskalaset) with 45 established artists (Entombed, Dark Tranquility, Hammerfall), 78 unsigned acts (one of them were WE) and over 750 000 visitors during one week.
Although 2005 started off with some shows in smaller venues with other unsigned acts, but they were always really crowded. This year we wanted to take it to another level. "Fragrance Of Decay" from "Geodesic", were sent to P3 Demo. This program were held once a week playing songs from unsigned bands, and after a halfyear they used their air-time to choose the best songs they had played. Our song was one of those.
We got a request to play at swedens biggest festival, Hultsfredsfestivalen, as one of 38 unsigned acts. More than 2000 bands sent their demos. All the local newspapers made articles about us, even giving "Geodesic" 5 stars out of 5 in a review. 300-350 people watched us perform, and probably over 3000 heard us because we had stage-time between Slipknot and Marilyn Manson, and people walked by just in front of our stage. Other bands that were signed up for Hultsfred 2005 was: System Of A Down, The Haunted, Slayer.
"SOLACE" Is Syconaut..s latest contribution, it was recorded during the vinter and spring -05/-06 completely by ourselves(including mixing and mastering). On this ep it feels like Syconaut has evolved to another level with more dynamics and more harmonic, without (in our opinion) loose any agressivness or substance.
2007 was a great year!!! Imagine play Swedenrock Festival and Metaltown the same year. WE DID! Got signed by Ilumnirec and started to work on our debut album. 2008 just started! We think it's gonna kick ass! -Syconaut- 2008Syconaut - Red Eyes
