where art exists for its own sake

About Me

Shakespeare Camp has arrived! We'll meet for a couple of hours on Saturday, June 7, beginning at 10 AM at Lumberton High School Commons. Games will be played, registration will occur, teachers will be met - the usual. Then on Monday we will cast and hand out scripts. See you there. ..

My Interests

dance as an art form and dancing as recreation, music, travel, family - not necessarily in that order

I'd like to meet:

actors, dancers, designers and technicians and people who believe in them

Music:

I like most kinds of music. I will listen to anything once. Rock is always good.

Movies:

Beautifully photographed, seamlessly edited, well-written character studies are nice. Cool costumes are fun, too.

Television:

the mysteries and comedies on BBC America and PBS are great, as well as the million or so versions of CSI and Law & Order. I don't really have time to watch anything these days, though.

Books:

character-driven fiction, biographies, murder mysteries

Heroes:

We're all heroes. Just not all the time...

The Glass Menagerie

We're settling into rehearsals for The Glass Menagerie and beginning to challenge ourselves. Creating an almost dreamscape with moments of wakening is intriguing. The symbolism moves from subtle to ov...

home from London

We've returned from the annual London theater trip. Eh, Joe was a stage version of Beckett's live tv piece from decades back; very effective, starring Michael Gambon. At the Globe we caught a not-quit...
