About Me

I was born, so my Ma told me, though there are those who have their doubts, and I can't remember a lot after that! Played in all sorts of bands in my time and found it was the best way to get drunk and laid for free so I played as often as I could and with whoever got me the most laid or drunk. A sort of musical slut! I managed to con a lot of talented people into showing me little snippets of brilliance along the way, most of which I forgot in a second, but the bits that remained helped me to put "DIED JOGGONG" together. Had a good few years with KATSQUIRE and put out two albums out with them. Played all over Europe and still play with Rob"Livestock"Davies evry now 'n then in the Jibbering Heeps or the Rock 'Ard Granchas. Did a bit of drumming for Breathless while Colin was in Oz. (Good luck to the boys on their long overdue ccomeback). They were the the first and best Rockabilly band I ever saw and I played on the "Saddletramps" album with them, Freddie"Fingers"Lee and the King of British Rockabilly, Crazy Cavan Grogan. if you get a very big magnifying glass you can just about make out my credit (nice picture of Colin though). Played with lots of other bands doin lots of other kinds of music, evrything from Gypsy Jazz to Punk rock but I won't bore you with the details as ur probably more interested in the Rock n' Rollside of things. Thats about all I can remember in one go but if you can fill in some blanks then gimme a call! Keep it Rockin! DOC

Influences: My earliest musical memories are of a Chuck Berry album with about 40,000 songs on it which I played to death and then played some more; sneakin downstairs when we first had a telly and watching an Old Grey Whistle Test with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee which completely blew me away. (Don’t know how old I was but I can still remember the song, "key to the highway"); and most importantly recording a demo in a studio with a band in the early 80’s and discovering a huge influence in Rob"Livestock"Davies. While I was setting my gear up in the live room, the engineer insisted on playing this recording he’d done the night before of a rockabilly band called "Breathless". It was their first time in the studio and he’d caught them wicked and I hooked. Saw them play a year or two later and finaly ended up with Rob in Katsquire. Over the years he’s pulled out some of the best Rockabilly guitar I’ve ever heard, and what a sessioner! Nobody hugs a bog like Stock. His solo stuff is gonna blow you away if it ever gets it released. Have to say one other thank you and thats to two double bass players who had a big impact on me musically, Richie from the Firebirds and the sadly departed Eddy from Breathless. Still get to watch Richie now and again as he plays the odd gig with the Heeps, always a pleasure, never a chore. Eddy on the other hand, took the Rockn’ Roll too far and sadly won’t see Breathless return. I’ve never seen anyone lose so much blood from their fingertips as he did. Awesome. On the whole I’ve been a real lucky Bugger playing with lots of really talented people and thats why most of my main influences are so close to home. The late, great Phil Lynot, bass player and frontman with Thin Lizzy, the coolest bloke to stand on a stage (Cavan comes a close second). Love loads more, Johnny Burnette, Elvis, Gene Vincent, the marvelous Mr Setzer, who showed us that Rockabilly can be brought up to date without losing the plot, and many, many more. Cheers all of you!
Sounds Like: Me, I hope!!!
