I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am Dot and I'm 22. I work a very boring job dealing with angry customers and increasingly hostile fellow workers for 30 hours a week at UPS and also attend Napier University as a part-time Media student. I live in the posh bit of Edinburgh (apparently) with me Robert.
I like going out with my mates to punk gigs and drinking enough vodka to be merry. I like music. A lot. I also play guitar, bass and drums and attempt to sing. I have three guitars (Westfield knockoff strat [we all start somewhere], Ibanez RG370DX and Gibson SG Special) and 2 basses (Ibanez GAXB and Fender Squire Bronco) I play bass for a Weegie punk band called The Skanx.
I have 1 piercing because my ears healed up, and I'm a bit of a wuss for new ones. I also have one tattoo on my back, which means Muse in Japanese.
I additionally dislike condensing myself into a few paragraphs.

My Interests

Robaaaaht, shaggin', writing poems/stories/songs, playing guitar/bass/drums/singing terribly, punk rawk, COFFEE, vodka, shite American TV, going out wi friends to gigs, world of warcraft, well-proportioned bums (male), taking pictures, Glarkware t-shirts (I have six!), Gibson SGs, Hibernian FC, travelling
Nibbles. 1991 - 2007

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who shares my interests. Musical folk from Edinburgh and surrounding areas. Especially other girls that wanna be in punk bands.
People who don't say 'Thanks for the add' because, well, that's a bit sad.
+ if ur profyle iznt wroten lyk dis i mite leik u

Music:

Can you identify with me? I like swing, classical and jazz as outside genres, but my main love is punk.
I support my local scene (Edinburgh) first and foremost - Critikill, Auslander, Buzzbomb, Down To Kill, Sad Society, The Axidents, Swellbellys, the Threats, Billy Liar, Square Peg etc
I will also need to check out Glasgow bands too.
Then there's the rest... (debate my placement of bands if you must)
Punk - Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, Descendents, the Offspring, Rocket From The Crypt, Screeching Weasel, The Buzzcocks, Leatherface, Electric Frankenstein, The Clash, Circle Jerks, Face To Face, TSOL, The Creeps (Canada), Dead Boys, the Bones, The God Awfuls, the Partisans, Instigators
Hardcore punk - D.O.A, Black Flag, Good Riddance, Minor Threat, Void, Flipper, Subhumans (Canada), Reagan Youth, Jerry's Kids, Youth Brigade (from D.C; the L.A band sucked), D.I, Negative Approach, Deep Wound, Born/Dead, Army Of Jesus, Youth Of Today, Antidote (both US and Dutch!), Negative FX, Faith, Rudimentary Peni
Emo (of all types, and the REAL kind) - Jawbreaker, The Hated, Rites Of Spring, Alkaline Trio, Dag Nasty, Indian Summer, Drive Like Jehu, Embassy, Still Life, Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Christie Front Drive, Gray Matter, Boys Life, Julia, Chamberlain/Split Lip, Evergreen, Floodgate, Lifetime, Unwound
Other stuff (cos everyone needs variety, and laugh all you want) - Muse, Ronnie Spector, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey, The Cramps, Tiger Army, Rolling Stones, QOTSA, The Beatles, Cave In, Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake, the Who, Bloc Party, Amebix, PWEI, Bessie Smith, Bay City Rollers, Kasabian, Maroon 5

And some other pish too. Lots of it.

Movies:

Casablanca, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Usual Suspects, Heathers, To Have And Have Not, The Maltese Falcon, Labyrinth, His Girl Friday, Gone With The Wind, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, North By Northwest

Television:

I suppose an ultimate all time list would include...
Six Feet Under, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nip/Tuck, Angel, Grey's Anatomy, Deadwood, Scrubs, Dirt, House, Alias, NCIS, Two and a Half Men (mostly for the theme tune)
I also watch Desperate Housewives at Jo's.

Books:

I don't read a lot at the moment but I like Bret Easton Ellis. And, additionally, I like dictionaries because words are sexy.

Heroes:

Artists, writers and musicians who are themselves. I don't like politicians or anyone with a more than bountiful range of bullshit.
When I grow up, I would like to be eitherPJ Harvey

or Mike Ness.

I also adore the Bogie.
"The whole world is three drinks behind... If everyone in the world would take three drinks, we would have no trouble. If Stalin, Truman and everybody else in the world had three drinks right now, we’d all loosen up and we wouldn’t need the United Nations." - Humphrey Bogart, 1950
