by G.Frazier
I wish could turn death to birth
My family to me, is my foundation
like dirt to earth
I know my sister is in heaven but damn it hurts
especially to follow the hearse
I want to scream and curse and let my anger burst
and shout out loud to GOD to bring her back
Since her death my world has been pitch black
It seems to be a total eclipse once where my sun was at
My train of sanity has skipped and ran off the tracks
but I must let her rest
Cancer is the enemy that consumed her breast,
watched as she took her last breath before death
I must fight the cause and dedicate it in my sister’s name,
to whose life to it was lost
Can’t be angry with the Lord because he’s the boss,
the battle was fought
Death overcame and rained down to the ones
who loved her with nothing but pain
The first night it felt like nothing had changed
I thought it was just a bad dream
but by the morning the suffering had came
But she aint hurting no more,
crying no more,
slowly dying no more
She’s in heaven smiling down with her wings of joy
I want to dedicate this poem to you
my eldest sister,
from the baby boy.
Geavonnie Frazier, a native Detroiter, is the youngest boy of 10 children, three brothers and six sisters. Three sisters are no longer with him. His eldest sister was tragically murdered when he was three, his second eldest sister died in December 2001 after a long fight with breast cancer, and he just recently lost a third sister who was also his best friend on January 6, 2007 to heart failure. His mother moved from Mississippi to Detroit in 1956 with her husband to start a new life in the Midwest.
His move to Washington, DC brought out his passion for the theater and literary arts. There, he expanded his creative talents and skills. He began modeling and doing fashion shows and along the way meeting some of the right contacts to help him pursue his career in the entertainment industry. He was eventually signed to a modeling contract but put it on hold in order to work on Time Out . Geavonnie learned and mastered the art of mixing poetry and page turning stories into an original masterpiece. His devotion to inspiring others no matter what race or creed, keeps his work of the streets but with an You can overcome attitude. Poetic, Sensual, and Street Hard Hitting! This is a definitely a young author on the rise!
Currently, he mentors to his five teenage nephews. He believes family unity and prosperity is essential. He participates annually in charity fundraisers, including this year's Race for the Cure. In his spare time, he enjoys shopping, reading, cooking, dancing, comedy clubs, and spending time with loved ones. He is currently working on his next book.
"TIME OUT"
To the Detroit native Daunte, the words relationship and commitment did not exist in his vocabulary. At an early age, women became a non-challenging endeavor to him and his boy, Pretty Tony. Once a woman showed that she had feelings or any sign of wanting to settle down, Daunte would put her on what he called a “Time Out” (a Time Out is a temporary or permanent hold of communication with a person or persons whose interest is worth more than actual value), that’s until he met Faith. Faith met and exceeded his expectations of what he wanted in a woman - she was sexy, beautiful, intelligent, witty, and ghetto. However, he could have never imagined that she would be the one who would return the heartache and pain that he once poured down to others, without conscious. Daunte never expected his partner in pimping to also participate in the manipulation that would change his life forever. This is a story of sex, lies, jealousy, and betrayal.
“DETROIT SLIM”
One Story. Seven Unpredictable Endings.
Have you ever known or observed a kid with a troubled spirit and wished there was something that you could have done to help the lost soul? Well now you have the chance, with Damon Fuller. He is in need of your help to survive some of the trials and tribulations that the ghetto sometimes makes young black men endure. Bring sight to the young brother who has allowed the streets to back alley his visions of the future. Choose wisely his movements because his fate lies solely in your hands. This story starts out with Damon participating in a stick up of an after hour joint owned by one the most notorious murderers in the city named the most dangerous place to live in AmeriKKKa. Now he is on the run from ex-hit man turned crime boss, Raymond Daring, aka Junebug, Killa, the Grim Reaper, and Detroit Slim. It will not be an easy task to save Damon from the shadows of death that searches for him and his crew with no rest. Every decision you make for him should be a calculated step, so be careful because the one bad move you chose, might be his last.

"After-Hours Girls"
Far from the person that I use to be
When I stare in the mirror, it’s hard for me to breathe
Why does deceit and conceit consume me?
As I follow footsteps that don’t lead me to resume me
allowing society and horny guys to fool me
in believing materialist things should rule me
I want a Prince Charming but it’s hard to find one in the ghetto
because that street mentality shit, they find it hard to let go
I’m a realist; I know there’s no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow
I just wish a brother could approach me with less of a “What’s poppin’ shorty?” and more of a simple “Hello.”
I can admit that my head can’t fit a Halo
but I’m trying to change from taking fellas’ change
because I’m no longer excited about riding in “his” range
and going home with my clothes stained
while he drives off to the next dame
not even remembering my name
I realize that my expectations have been low
bragging like a groupie because I rode in another’s benz
So from now on when I take dough
from these little boys that try to treat me like a ho,
I’m going to stack my ends
So when we meet again
I’ll be in some shit sweeter than his
Fresh from head to toe, ass looking so juicy
he begs me to have his kids
I’ll take your money, honey
but I aint accepting no marital bids
Now I’ll play the pimp and you’ll be my ho that finance all my extravagant diamonds and pearls
Don’t worry in the daytime I’ll be getting my shit together
but when the clock strike midnight,
I turn back into That Bitch
but you can refer to me as one of those
