Gatoebrio(a.k.a. J.Cortes) was born in Lima-Peru in 1966,at age 1 family moved to Australia where little J first experienced the beauty of the music of Tchaikovsky,Mozart,Beatles,Mamas & the Papas,etc.,witnessing the "Summer of love" to a certain extent in Bondi beach! At age 5 moved back to Lima to go to a british school,and adjust to the "new"culture,absorbing everything that was 70s,especially the music(of course),until around age 13,when he picked a guitar for the first time,and started looking at music with a stronger passion,which caused teenager J to adopt Rock and Roll as his official parents. Needless to say,he was isolated in school and society in general(basically for the long hair and questioning rules and traditions of every kind),which resulted in huge amounts of inspiration for music and lyrics of years to come,and eventually hooking up with the right people to form the influential heavy/classic rock band Oxido(unheard of in 1982 Lima-Peru,when all that dominated the airwaves was new wave,among other trends) Years,bands and endless shows,trips and parties continued, until 1987 saw the birth of Mazo,when young J and 2 other like-minded bastards,fed up with the trends AND its followers,decided to write heavy,primitive and mostly dark rock,always in the vein of Sabbath,and living up to their already bad reputation of anti rock stars,ended up playing shows all over,for free or for money,with glam rock bands or punkies,where street fights,drinking and girls were the usual. Mazo continued until 1996,when J decides to travel to the USA,ending up in Boston (by chance,mind you!),where he meets the Leger Bros,from bands such as Sweet Cheater,Fighting Cocks,etc.,forming The Skillet Liquors(blues/rock).and playin around the commonwealth from 1997 to 2005. In feb. 2006 good ol' J buys a home studio and starts recording what is constantly in his head:good ol' heavy,primitive and mostly dark rock! Currently jams with friends(ex Fighting Cocks,ex Bishop Strike,etc),and enjoys all kinds of music as long as it is genuine..........
