Since her birth 21 years ago, Eva Kathryn has been an enigma. When most of her peers were still carpooling with their parents, Eva was drawn to the piano and stage. Largely self-taught, the young singer / songwriter / performer began writing songs before she was 10, and starred in her first serious musical at 12.
Throughout middle and high school, Eva continued in local staring roles—but her music soon took center stage. Owing as much to Stephen Sondheim as MTV, Eva revealed a startling sophistication and maturity beyond her years. Equally comfortable with adults and her peers, Eva's growing popularity was as much a reaction to her unique personality as to her engaging performances.
No one knew what to make of the young prodigy, though. She didn't fit a predictable mold. The story might have ended there, in Topeka, Kansas—except for another outside-the-box artist, who achieved both artistic and commercial success.
Kerry Livgren (KANSAS) blazed new territory in the 70s and 80s by fusing symphonic elements with hard rock and introspective lyrics. With such diverse hits as "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind," Livgren defined himself by defying convention. On Eva's own initiative, she asked the rock luminary if he would record her songs. Although initially skeptical, Livgren agreed to help after hearing the young artist's songs. At 14, she was recording with a rock legend.
Over the next five years, Eva further developed her song writing. Crafting a unique voice and style, her songs developed as invitations to an insightful, compelling personage. Her music imparts meaning and emotion through its richness of expression. Fusing melodic sensibility with passionate lyrics, Eva creates a deep musicality unrestrained by genre or convention.
After she completed high school, Kerry introduced her to Bill Evans, his longtime representative. Bill agreed that the young artist was an extraordinary songwriter and singer. Her quantity of songs, as well as the quality, was particularly impressive to Evans. Bill soon signed on as her manager and music producer
Working tirelessly to fully realize her creative vision, the resulting recordings were her first as a young adult. She then began honing not only her aesthetic focus, but her artistic persona as well—an extension of her powerful personality that first charms, then astonishes.
Eva began writing and recording as a solo artist in late 2006, with Evans as producer. She also began crafting her emblematic sound, fusing symphonic pop with elements of techno, metal and progressive rock. Work soon began on her first album. Her concept calls for each song to stand on its own, but collectively comprise a narrative in the tradition of OK Computer (Radiohead), The Wall (Pink Floyd), The Black Parade (My Chemical Romance), and Year Zero (Nine Inch Nails). Numerous special guests are scheduled to appear, spanning several generations of popular music.
Her material impressed numerous industry luminaries (see quotes page). She garnered international distribution through Radiant Records in mid-2007. Soon after, top film and music composer's agent Mike Rosen (Montana Artists) signed on to represent her.
Eva has garnered an impressive six industry endorsements for a young artist: Audix Microphones, Cakewalk, ikMultimedia, Kurzweil, Presonus Audio, and R0DE Microphones. She is also working with TruePianos (which doesn't have a formal endorsement program).
Audiences hungry for something fresh will discover a new voice in Eva Kathryn, rooted in the familiar, yet venturing far beyond. A dramatically inspiring songwriter, singer, pianist and already seasoned performer—she is a breakthrough artist. Listen for the unexpected.
