About Me

Singer, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist Katy Kinard isn't content leaving questions unasked... questions that linger in the hearts of many Christians today but often stay inside. As a seeker, she will tell you she's been all kinds of people: one of childlike, liberated faith; a Pharisee and a legalist; a charismatic and a miracle seeker; what she calls a “near atheist;” a cynic, and a non-denominational scribe. But she's quick to embrace all areas of her journey, offering thoughtful questions and perspectives of hope in her music...the end all being the love of Jesus.
Having moved from Colorado to Nashville after high school, Katy attended Belmont University, where she studied Commercial Music and Music Business. She focused on writing and recording at Belmont, completing two albums in the Belmont studios. She also had the privilege of performing at the Grand Ole Opry in backup choirs for artists such as Alan Jackson, Kenny Rogers, and Taylor Sorenson. Last year, she booked two separate tours through Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas, and she currently makes the rounds at clubs, coffee shops, and churches in Nashville and her former hometown of Colorado Springs.
Katy’s song: “Here,” has had airplay on over 30 radio stations. In 2005, she won a recording artist competition through Embassy Music's Talent Search, taking her place as one of Tennessee's regional winners. Last summer, she was chosen as a semi-finalist (top 100 chosen) for the Independent Music Awards, judged by TAXI And Billboard Magazine and won the '08 IMA popular vote in May. Katy has recorded and toured two CD's: “Headed Back” (2005) and “You're Still Better” (2007). She is currently booking a fall tour with GMA music award winner Elizabeth Hunnicutt.
Katy's heart is to see people comforted and awakened spiritually, and emotionally. But she is quick to say that she also needs awakening, and that her search will continue as long as there are questions.

I wrote a song recently, in honor of Mother's Day.  I've always wanted to write a song for my mom, and yet the ideas usually came out corny...like any other truly meaningful song about how much y...

I've learned lately...

that I like playing shows.  I don't think I really knew that before.  This is one of the reasons I wanted to book a tour in the first place: to prove to myself that music is something I...
