Mudu Clothing's brand is a Corrado Caocci and Maurizio Pitzalis's idea.
Their passion is graphic design.
Some years ago their will to get into something led to the birth of an ambitious and fascinating project: to realize a clothing line, inspired by the surf, skate and dancefloor world.
They studied and looked for an innovative and charismatic brand that was able to exalt the passion for graphic design and to express the balance between the will of escape and the rooting to our own Land using a new essential and modern language.
That summer a project was born.
That evening an idea was born.
Something excited their senses, thrilled the air and their thoughts started to fry and pop with a kind of almost cruel rapture:
they felt something important, the beginning of a path, a good deal of madness.
That madness drew a profile of an ancient figure. A face. A mamuthone's face.
In today sardinian language, the Mamuthone word means mad, it comes from "maimato", the strorming, furious, violent, an insult that Plutarco gave to Zeus Pluviale, a divinity of the underground world who is identified with Dioniso.
The limping dance that this dumb mask performed was a ritual dance, typical of the dionisyac religion, a sacred dance which consisted of a series of little jumps representing a rhitmic phrase.
They symbolize the passing from a natural state to an exctasy state, from the normality to the possession, to insanity, to one who's in God's power.
It's an old sounding word which perhaps originates in the primitives mediterrean languages.
An archaic ritual interpreted in a contemporary point of view which today represents the increasing need of authenticity and the frantic movement of the attention from an artistic-cultural segment: from cross media to streetwear contests, from social networks to urban lifestyle.
