DEEP

DEEP is a band from Fafe, Portugal, formed by Filipe Costa (voice and guitar), João Pedro Nogueira (lead guitar), Ruca (drums) and Pedro Barros (bass). Formed in the ends of September 1999, DEEP had carried through their self-titled first demo in 2001, with the songs “MARY”, “LIKE A DOG”, “FANTASY”, “DROWN” and “PAY-BACK”. In September of the same year, DEEP had participated in a compilation of “PROMÚSICA” magazine, with the song “FANTASY”. In 2004 DEEP released their second EP, called “TAG ME”, an expansive and audacious work of the band, with songs like “INVOKE FOR NOTHING”, “ABOVE ALL (WITH A SMILE)”, “(FL)ASHES TO DUST”, “SO SIMPLE”, “ME AND MYSELF” and “REAL LIFE”, having this work been very well received by who heard it. This new “air” of DEEP still provided a prominent interview in “Público", a famous portuguese periodical, in a dedicated chapter to the national bands in 2004. The sound of DEEP took the band into many gigs in Fafe, Porto, Braga, Vila do Conde, Esposende, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Ermesinde, Vieira do Minho, Peso da Régua, Penafiel, Guimarães, Vila Nova de Gaia, Lisboa, Cascais, Coimbra, Matosinhos and Albufeira. The gigs in the national television program “Portugal a Tocar”, broadcasted by RTPN and RTP Internacional in 2005 and 2006, were also very important to the band, giving them some new fans. Receiving the challenge of the public and the motivation of the proper band, the national launching of single “REAL LIFE” came to show that DEEP will “Keep on Rocking in a Free World” like Neil Young himself would say. Now DEEP are presenting their music all around Portugal, playing an important musical role in the very famous multimedia and bookstore enterprise called FNAC.
