Raquy and theCavemen of Brooklyn, NY, bringstraditional Middle Eastern music and modern drumming to a heady peak.Raquy has travelled to many distant countries including those in theMiddle East, Egypt and India, where she has experienced and absorbedvast amounts of musical culture. She uses all this knowledge to bringan amazing act to the stage. RaquyDanzinger performs withthe Dumbek (Arabic hand drum)and the Iranian Kamanche,which is much like a violin.
Raquyand the Cavemen allow the listener to experience the musical culturesfrom The Middle East and Egypt and fuse them with
LironPeled 'shard rock drumming background. The name Cavemen is appropriate due tothe rawness of the beats, and there is also a timeless property to themusic that makes it impossible to dislike. The whole experience of themusic takes you on a journey to the roots of Middle Eastern drummingand as soon as that kemenche starts flowing the trip goes deeper. Itssound is like a close stare into the eyes and soul of the MiddleEastern culture that lives inside the music. Raquy brings forth theexperience of an ancient culture straight to the stage for everyone toreflect, react and rotate to. Thelove that each band member has for their instrument isespecially evident when they are all on stage. They move fluidly to theenchanted drumming and mystical kemenche. Find oneof their shows and be enriched, encouraged and energized.
Their 1st CD, "DUST" (© 2003) has reached the top 20 on the CMJchart for multiple weeks. Their 2nd CD "Jordan"(© 2005) has debuted on the top 30 on the same chart.
Their 3rd CD, "'Naked'- 12 Middle Eastern Drum Solos" , was released in 2007, and their praised latest CD, "Mischief" , was released in 2008.
Theyhave appeared at Lollapalooza, Central Park Summerstage, FloydFest andPASIC among others. They are
performingregularly in the US with occasional tours abroad . The group has received airplay inthe US, Canada, Central America, Israel and Europe.
Raquyand the Cavemen also give workshops and master classes inMiddle-Eastern drumming.
