Ian Torres has been active as a musician in the Chicagoland area since 1997. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master's degree in Jazz Composition from DePaul University.Ian was finalist in the 2005 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition and also recieved a DownBeat Award in June of 2006 for Outstanding Jazz Arrangement.He is also the leader of the Ian Torres Big Band, which features some of the best musicians in Chicago.Mr.Torres has performed alongside artists such as Quincy Jones, George Garzone, Phil Woods, Lou Marini, David Sanborn, Kelly Sill, Phil Collins, and Chaka Khan. He has performed at numerous festivals including the Montruex Jazz festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Vienne Jazz Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, and the Elkhart Jazz Festival. Ian, along with long-time musical brother guitarist Don Tisch, currently co-leads the jazz quintet Expansion Project.
Mr.Torres is also active as a composer.
