Pro – Vision Musical Ministry, Inc.
"Good News" Griots (Storytellers)
BIOGRAPHY
Pro-Vision blends seventies-style harmonies and contemporary instrumental
arrangements with personal stories, original lyrics and scripture to create a unique
style never experienced in gospel music. Their personal stories tell how they were
changed from being "masters of sin" to becoming living examples of what God can
do.
Pro-vision began its musical ministry in 1988, as a result of a vision received by the
group’s founder and creative director, Calvin Gorrell. Brother Gorrell prayed every
day during his 28-day drug rehabilitation programs and was inspired by God to find
four other men to sing.
Pro-Vision’s messages are uplifting. Their songs provide positive personal
reflection, direction and encouragement. All members are recovering from
addictions and negative lifestyles. They have a special concern and focus on "at
risk" urban youth and those who are confined in prison. In their prison outreach
Pro-Vision has conducted benefit concerts in all the New Jersey State adult male
and female correctional facilities.
Pro-Vision’s professional and recording musical experience of each member dates
back at least two decades. Early professional experiences include performances with
Mandrill, the Dells, B.B. Kings, Joe Tex, The Intruders, The Moments, the Five Stair
Steps, and Kool and the Gang, and The Unifics. Members of the group often sang at the
Apollo. As Young adults, they performed and recorded as the Variations.
Pro-Vision’s vocalist consist of Calvin Gorrell, Richard Hemingway, Charles Gardner,
David Auten and the newest member William G. McLoud.
Pro-Vision has become quite popular throughout the New York, New Jersey, Virginia,
Washington, DC and Pennsylvania area. Their music appeals to all generations. They have
performed at churches, public schools, colleges, correctional facilities, hospitals, conferences
and numerous holiday, cultural and other special events.
Glory to God for this musical blessing
Where there is no vision the people perish (Proverbs 29:18)
The lord is our shepherd; he leads us in the paths of righteousness yea though we walk in the
valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil surely goodness and mercy shall follow us
all the days of our life for his name sake
