Beautiful People.
Open to anything, reggae and calypso first (jamaican roots), soul, gospel, jazz and hip hop, as well as classical music. Also interested in music from around the world, particularly folklore, from africa, india, asia, and celtic music from northern europe. But I have been into a lot of other stuff. punk, gothic, black metal, speed metal, dance music, garage, house, deep house, and whatever other labels. we grew up listening to it all. Its all music. Right? I think so. We need music especially now, in this world. Its a healing force!on myspace my trumpet features with a few artists/producers i.e. http://www.myspace.com/universalhallpass (UHP) http://www.myspace.com/fastfreddie (Fast Freddie) http://www.myspace.com/emanative (Emanative) http://www.myspace.com/dsemble (KDQ)Enjoy the vibe. Lately time has been spent writing new material."I am into Roy Eldridge and Freddie Hubbard, as trumpet mentors to name but a few. Hannibal Lokumbe is very like Roy Eldridge with his own style too. I love the Terence Blanchard album "Flow", and I think Wallace Roney is just incredible."
I love european arthouse movies, and from hollywood, the movies with more depth and a storyline, well-acted, and directed. Movies from other parts of the world too, interesting stuff, with other perspectives than the usual i.e. "america and britain save the word" stuff. The movies are like artforms, the more interesting stuff always rises to the top in the long run. The banal and the ephemeral, have their uses for a quick hit (mass-marketed), or for "switching off" so to speak. We all need to do that sometimes. Different movies for different times right?
Anything interesting. But not too time-consuming hopefully. I listen to radio, which is good, as it doesn't require your individed attention, as TV does.
I'm into a broad range of stuff such as: current affairs, biographies, metaphysics, art and aesthetics, sports, music theory and history, travelling knowledge, novels, socio-political, self-help. blah blah blah, whatever.
Ordinary folk, the unsung heroes of everyday life. But especially those who have risen above a lot of obstacles in life, and emerged with their dignity.
