David Roman~ trained in graphic design when computers hardly existed. Every piece of art work was created perfectly by hand; every single letter was laid from a sheet of letters called letterset. To get myself through college, not living with my parents, I set up as a disc jockey. I lived and worked in a night club called Los Cavos in south Manchester. I was 17 yrs old then.
One day at college, I was approached by a student union member and asked would I like to dj their monthly progressive rock concerts and with pay! ~ A gift from god himself! I mean progrock and 12 quid! A weeks wage in those days. I became dj Dave Roman & the original poster show~ with go go dancers.
The groups included Free ~Family~ Elton john~ Blodwyn pig Taste~ David Bowie and so many more~
I went to work in an advertising agency and I hated the job. They gave me endless cartoons to draw for university rag mags. I left the firm, which was the end of art and drawing for many years
I have twice been a furniture designer& manufacturer. Firstly soft furnishings, then later handmade polished steel furniture~ tables, chairs beds, mirrors, lighting and more, turnover £100000
Look in publicity, my beautiful steel furniture adorns homes, bars hairdressing salons and restaurants throughout Scotland.
Many years were spent as an Antiques dealer and restorer specialising in art deco & nouveau,
I bought &sold Lalique glass, Clarice Cliff ect, and even Charles Rennie Mackintosh chairs.
Going back to art in 1990. I began photography of the Scottish landscape.
I launched the creative card co~ a postcard company printing and selling 200,000 + cards a year eventually! I became the top selling satirical artist in Scotland, delighting people, with humour and laughter all other the world ~
The winter months were quiet so now being divorced I pursued my other obsession, photography, I set up a photo studio teaching staged photography
~Wow dig the moustache in 1991 and where did my hair go?
Eventually my all time love~Music was addressed with the making of my Blue Zenn cd
