CLASSIC RUINS (Boston) & The CINDERS (Paris)

About Me

Jeff started playing guitar in bands in 1978 when he co-founded The Commandos along with singer Brian Hopper. Before the bands original incarnation broke up in 1986, they shared the stage with acts like Fear, Flipper, Wayne Kramer of the MC5, The Freeze, The Neighborhoods, and countless others. www.thecommandos.org In the late 80s and early 90s, Funhouse, The Surreal McCoys, Rick & The Legends all had Jeff in their lineups.1993 saw the start of an 11-year stint with Glampunk sleaze merchants The Ballbusters, fronted by Rick Blaze who was fresh from recording a live album with Walter Lure (ex- of Johnny Thunders Heartbreakers). The Ballbusters toured in Europe five times, and released three studio albums, at least 7 compilations, an EP and a vinyl 45! Jeff was also a member of the original Crybabies lineup, and played on their debut CD "How THe Other Half Lives"(Dino Records 2002). In December of 2002, when Boston underground legends Classic Ruins were looking for a rhythm guitarist, Jeff was asked to audition, and he got the job, first appearing onstage with the Ruins on January 16, 2003. The lineup of Frank Rowe (lead vocal/lead guitar), Carl Biancucci (bass), Jeff Crane (guitar), and Matt Burns (drums) remains a fixture on the Boston club scene to this day. www.myspace.com-classicruins These days, the main outlet for Jeff's original music is The Cinders, a group he founded with Laurent Ciron and Christian Rosset, former members of France's indie heroes The Dogs. In February 2005 they released a single on Varieton Records (France) comprised of Cranes song "Eliza" and a cover of The Animals classic "I'm Cryin'". The single was accompanied by tours of France (Feb 05), the Northeastern US (May 05), and a second tour of France in March of 2006. Their debut album "Up From The Ashes" was released on the French label ELP! Records in January of 2006. Recording began in August for a second Cinders CD. The band returns to the road in Feb '07!
