About Me

I feast on souls. And grapes. I write reviews and am slooooowly archiving them here and eventually here . I like hotdogs.I'm also the 10th girl from the left 2 minutes into this:

My Interests

Rare steaks and gourmet hamburgers, grandpa accoutrements, the color gold, mismatched blues, Eastern Europe, flambe, the radio

I'd like to meet:

People with shacks on the Salton Sea, people with stone huts on the Black Sea Coast, people with yurts (and fresh yogurt) in Mongolia, and people with well-heated flats near the Moscow Circus. Michael Kimmelman and Nick Schager (platonically). People who can rock this . Also, Los Angelenos who want to do the fondue. Disneyland haters, go away.

Music:

Used records that cost a buck flat

Movies:

Pennies From Heaven. If you don't like it, we can't be friends. Otherwise, only films from a sickle shaped swath of the world, starting in England, heading through Scotland (Ireland be damned!), across Scandinavia and hitting a small corner of Germany before delighting in the giddy pleasures of Baltic, Russian, and Balkan cinema and trailing away on the cusp of Iranian comedies (no small child weepies for me, thanks). Yeah, I left out everything French, Spanish and Italian. You wanna take this outside?

Television:

Shows I wish I could watch if I had either a working memory or a working television: Peep Show, Look Around You, King of the Hill, Dance 360, Garth Merenghi's Dark Place

Books:

Brautigan, Hynes, Orlean, Perotta, Pike, Ware, Vowell, and my captain my captain --- Joseph Mitchell.

Heroes:

Pauline Kael, Paulette Goddard, Pauly Shore. And these guys:
