About Me

i'm ryan. hello.

i live in london, near archway tube. which is nice. i live in little lancing when i'm not at university. lancing is down there if your standing near the top or up there if your at the bottom. it's near brighton wherever you are. it's shit and i won't live there any longer then i have to.

i love music. i love film. i have an on/off relationship with television. i love music and film together. i love being able to make that happen. i enjoy books a lot but my current mindset is dead against them, not great. i'm hoping to find the book which will spark the passion again.

i'm sarcastic, serious, happy, sad, irritable, irritating, and vaguely amusing. or i'm not. it depends.

lists of thing i like are in the boxes provided for just such lists. sort of, i've changed the music bit 'cos that was boring. still, it's all very exciting.
er... ish.

when i'm not at university or procrastinating i'm part of the MenWithTheMovieCamera collective (is three people a collective? hmm). we love music and film and video and are mind-numblingly snobby and pretentious about it. my main love within this is editing but i'm currently developing more ideas and feelings about camera work. i can frequently be found behind my laptop eithier working on, or performing projections to go with REVEREs live music.

our myspace can be seen by giving the banner down thar' a click, but because i'm super-duper proud of it here is a video of future of the left playing uber-tune 'Adeadenemyalwayssmellsgood':
this is the first time we've used split-screen in the editing. was a bitch to work out, but looks hot. yay.
banners for things what i like
click these and love some things:
ah REVERE. they be my favourite unsigned band. they should not be unsigned. sounding like a mix of gy!be and jeff buckley, via gypsy music, gospel and god knows what else they all wrap their ears around, they are one of the most consistantly stunning live bands i have ever seen. the new stuff they are recording blows most other so called 'epic' music out the water and it isn't even finished yet. i'm lucky enough to work with them on a number of video related things with mwmtc which is a joy. i cannot say enough good things about them.
careful with a camera around stephen though, it'll make him wrestle you to the floor.
Kat Flint has just recently made an album. it's pretty much stunning. she's one of the best singer songwriters on Londons acoustic circuit at the moment. Off to her MySpace with y'all to check out her tunes.
david has an album out. it's really very good. make him happy and buy one :)
this is what i do. i do it with people whats i love (not like that, like i love craigs house). i film bands i love and then spending time editing the footage, which i love. lots of love. currently working on a number of projects. exciting projects.

My Interests

my girl, my mates, live music, film, music on record, televison, computer games, playing guitar, spending all night in shitty towns

"i'll turn your empires into dust
i'll watch your engines as they rust
i'll crush your statues under foot
i'll write you in my hating book"

Music:

i like guitar music but not wholly and not exclusively, i quite like things that go beep too. i am partial to a few things that don't really do eithier of those too.
some bands i like are in my friends list so if you REALLY need to know, look there. or ask and I shall rattle off a long list then inform you you should love them all too.

Or you can look at this thing:

i also love live music. as long as it's good. shit bands shouldn't be allowed to play live. certainly not at gigs i'm attending. i am talking to you lights, you shitty pretentious (not in the good way) wankers. fuck off. and die.

Movies:

star wars sparked the passion to begin with

lars von trier insipired new things in me
there was things before, since and after. i love them all.

because of what i do with mwtmc i'm really interested in the way other people put live performance to tape and film, these are some of my favourites:
and all that could have been & beside you in time (nine inch nails), P*U*L*S*E (pink floyd), cover your portsmouth and hold it (oceansize)*, arriving somewhere (porcupine tree), cunning stunts (metallica), under blackpool lights (the white stripes)
*... er... ok that one was us

Television:

yes. sometimes. no. maybe.
televisons a funny beast. sometimes it's groundbreaking, exciting, inventive clever, thought provoking and inspiring.
sadly most of the time it's pap.

Books:

sometimes. less then televsion sadly. depends. i like some.
i've found myself half way through four or five books recently, a couple of which i've read before. typical.

Heroes:

people. things.
and spoons
