for me, it's the simple pleasures in life like my family, when friends come by for no reason, cooking for loads of people, dance parties for one when nobody's watching, movies on a cold night, wasting summer days in the park, skiing with my sister in Mont Tremblant Quebec, travelling anywhere anytime with anybody, reading a good book, speaking french with my mom and sister, catching up with friends, taking on a challenge, Saturday nights out that turn into Sunday mornings, a victorious gunners game, a great cup of tea, success in my career, good timing, comfortable stilletos (they do exist!) good hair days, guys who have good chat, the smell of clean laundry, when my dog barks at me through the phone, having a good laugh to the point where my sides hurt, making new best friends, and so on and so on.
Anybody who says they don't like the Rolling Stones...are they mad?? Mick Jagger is still very sexy!!
So much...!! From my childhood; the beatles, the stones, janis joplin, Led Zepplin (Tangerine!)...thanks mom....Motown, frank sinatra, Billie Holiday, Etta James...thanks dad. Nostalgic, back to small farming town Chatham, Ontario...Nirvana, Smashing pumpkins, Dave Mathews, Sonic Youth, Green Day, Weezer, The tragically hip is my absolute fave. Their music is the soundtrack to grade 11. My intro to hip hop...tone loc, young mc, beastie boys and then going into, dare I say it, commercial music! Puffy, Mary J, Luda...so bad but those were good times. Moving on house music thorugh Tiesto and Oakenfold...loved it but got sick of that fast. Then discovered soulful house, disco, funky house and deep house...and never looked back! Karizma, Joey Negro, Dennis Ferrer, Kerri Chandler, DJ Deep, Kenny Dope, Alix Alvirez and the like. And I haven't stopped dancing since! And who can resist drunken ballads of Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses and Bryan Adams?? And there's always the Kooks, killers, kaiser chiefs, fratellis, Arctic Monkeys etc... For sure not a music snob, eh???
Dirty Dancing, Romeo and Juliet, Coming to America, Dodge Ball, Napoleon Dynamite, Zoolander has to be my favourite, Anchor Man, Elf, Old School...Snatch, The usual suspects, Casino, Crash...anything ridiculously funny or smart. BLADES OF GLORY is an Oscar contender for sure! Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy Macelroy ARE figure skating!
East Enders, Entourage, Desperate Housewives, Without a Trace, CSI, addicted to news programmes and human interest shows...
The Kathy Reichs series of Temperance Brennan novels, Where the Red Fern Grows, Trainspotting, In My Skin, The Chap:Sartorial Agony, The Devil Wears Prada, The Great Gatsby, Tender is the Night, 1984, Animal Farm, In her Shoes, Everybody Worth Knowing
Thanks to my family I have the best fans. I have been blessed with good friends who will always be my rocks!
