About Me

Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, The KRYPTONICS existed between 1985 and 1992. This site has been set up to spruik the new double CD anthology entitled 'REJECTIONVILLE', out now on Memorandum Recordings - a label founded by two former band members, Ian Underwood and Russell Hopkinson. The release is distributed by the Fuse Music Group.
'REJECTIONVILLE' is the definitive 37 track anthology of this pereninally under-appreciated garage/power-pop outfit. The KRYPTONICS emerged in the mid-1980s from the same creative melting pot that spawned the Stems, The Triffids and the Bamboos. They recorded some fantastic garage soaked tunes between 1985-92, over an array of line-ups that included future members of Lubricated Goat, You Am I, Radio Birdman, the Hard-Ons, Front End Loader, The Chevelles, New Christs, The Monarchs & Challenger 7.
The KRYPTONICS existed in the pre-digital era and their vinyl catalogue (which now demands high prices on eBay) has never previously been issued on CD. Subsequently they have remained one of the more enigmatic bands to emerge from the much celebrated 1980s Australian rock’n’roll scene. The band will also be featured on one of the forthcoming 'Redux' volumes of the iconic “Do The Pop” compilation series of Underground Australian punk and garage.
'REJECTIONVILLE' includes the band’s entire recorded output plus an extra CD of unreleased live and studio tracks. This double CD is presented in a deluxe gatefold card wallet with a 28 page booklet full of liners, photos and a ‘Pete Frame’ style family tree that maps the band’s extensive genome. It is an essential purchase for the Australian garage/rock’n’roll enthusiast, and those who remember the band fondly
