About Me
Band “The Collision†started, so to speak, as a collision of ideas of two young artists. The basic idea of this band was constituted by Srdjan Zdravkovic (now the lead guitarist and composer) and Ivana Beloica (the ex lead singer) As they worked on the songs, simultaneously they tried to find a perfect band for them. So Lazar Kebic (bass guitar) and Nenad Vidojevic (drums) were asked to join the band. ------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------- The crew was enlarged, by two more instruments (saxophone and trumpet), and two backvocals. Ana Mesaros-Dzi joined the band as a backvocal, and so did Jovana Tomovic, who also inspired a few songs with her flute playing. As those eight people became to look like a band they realized they could use a name. Name Collision appeared. So, everyone agreed, and the name “The Collision†still stands. ------------------------------------------------------------
---- Not long after they just formed the band, the artists agreed to have their first appearance in public. It happened on may 31st in a nice, small Belgrade jazz club. The audience was thrilled by the performance. Not only because Collision was new on the Belgrade music scene, but also because they were good.-------------------------------------------------------
------------------------- Realizing that they get along surprisingly well, musically as much as personally, the band decided to enlarge once more. Ivan Platner, the trombone player and Alen Stajic on keys, were the ones who brought a new light into Collision. Not long before that, the band changed their trumpet and saxophone players, so Novak Mijovic on the trumpet, and Srdjan Mijalkovic on tenor saxophone, gave the final touch. ------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------- Having lots of rehearsals, writing new songs, thinking a lot about what to do next, Collision made a decision to record a demo. As the summer passed, the demo songs formed. Spending the whole summer working on demo material, Collision unfortunately missed the opportunity to play with Incognito on Nishville Jazz festival. But no harm was done, because they made an outstanding performance in a more intimate atmosphere, performing in front of their friends and new made fans. The whole event was taped, so The Collision now has two demo songs and a footage of their concert. ------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------- After a small brake The Collision changed the lead singer. Bojana Abazovic, is now a part of the crew. Soon the demos will be redone, so you will have the opportunity to hear these songs in a new, a more jazzy light. The Collision has recently changed the drummer,so now Marko Peric is behind the drums. ------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------- Now thy are working on their first album, hoping they will finish by the end of this year. A lot of rehearsals and gigs are in plan too. They are looking for a publisher and now, as they sent their bio, they are also looking forward to performing on some of European jazz and acid jazz festivals, in Barcelona, Vienna, London etc. A small tour around Serbia is in plan too. ------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------- Although all the members of Collision agree that classification of music they play is hardly possible, maybe a hint will help in better understanding of Collision. All the members differ drastically in music taste, that is the reason The Collision sounds –a little bit of everything-. Acid jazz-groovy-funky, soul and r’n’b all together would describe the music better than saying nothing. But do listen to demos and decide for yourself.-----------------------------------------
