Katarina Danojlic-Kaya was born in 1989. in Belgrade, Serbia. Since her early childhood she has been expressing interest in various forms of art (music, theater, literature). At age 5 she made her first public appearance in a TV commercial, and one year later she took part in her first movie with an award-winning role (at Novi Sad Film Festival). Later that year, Katarina enrolled in the primary music school (piano) and also started with ballet and took some additional acting classes. At age 8 she acted in a movie directed by Zika Pavlovic, and at 11 played in her third film which was never finished (cancelled due to political situation of that time). From 2002. to present she has collaborated with Jelena and Ivana Zigon in a theater show called "Odazvale su se samo ptice" ("Only birds answered"). In the meantime she got herself busy with some ballet performance, mini-modeling shows and some more TV commercial shooting. Katarina grew up mainly on jazz music and from the very beginning she had the oportunity to hear and see many great live jazz concerts in her hometown. Introduced to the music of "INCOGNITO" when she was six, she immediately embraced the whole "black sound" phenomenon, and all its enchanting vocal aspects. At 14, she started her formal education as a jazz singer, enrolling the jazz department of "Kornelije Stankovic" Music High School in Belgrade (her mentor is Jelena Revisin). With Ivana Kotov(Kay), she discovered the horizons of funk, soul and pop music. Later on, she started her own funk-jazz band called "Jazzmin" and also ocassionally featured as a singer with the 'Stankovic" big band. Since last year she has been attending latin dance classes, including her personal favorite - salsa dance. Her major plan for the future includes admission to "Faculty of Dramatic Arts" (FDU) in Belgrade (department of acting), as well as constant work on improving her overall vocal skills and performance.
