Born in India, raised in Norway, now I find myself in America!Ever felt like you had the wrong colour, size, and that you where at the wrong place? That's how I felt growing up in Norway being Indian, learning classical Indian music, but sneak listening to my uncle's forbidden album collection. I just loved anything that made me feel! Billy holiday, Jimmy Hendrix and Public Enemy mixed with the Bollywood sounds of Asha Bhonsle did that to me...My birth name Is Sampda and it means inner-joy! but it takes more to find peace with your self.I wanted answers. I needed to know why I was where I was, and who I was supposed to be? I was tired off feeling misplaced, if you're an immigrant you really know what I mean!Then by the name Sam I found relief by rhyming and getting all of my anger and frustration out through live shows. I really just wanted to fit in, but felt that my background and heritage was a shadow hanging over me making me stick out.So I added "saya" to my name. which means shadow in Hindi....
With my new full name I did an album in Norway called "shedding skin" in 2004.
I wanted people to see beyond what meets the eye!My life, my love, music, karma, my kismet has found its way out of the shadow!
Its bubbling, crackling basically tackling all that seems hard at times...
