Xile F

Inspired by Belgian New Beat, UK Hardcore and US Hip Hop in the late 80s & early 90s, as a teenager, Xile F (aka dj Flix) threw himself head first into the world of electronic music. A dj from the tender age of 15 his sound swung from techno through breakbeat and tech house and, more recently, on to punk-funk electro, dub disco and acid house. He's dj'ed all over the world from Brazil to Japan but his most recent venture has seen him return to Edinburgh (where he lived for 6 years) once a week to co-host the We Are...Electric club night alongside local dj Gary Mac. Held every Wednesday at The Cabaret Voltaire, Blair St. the idea behind the night was to offer Edinburgh a chance to hear some of the cutting edge electronic music that was setting the dance music scene alight in cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, New York and Barcelona. Now running for nearly two years they've had the likes of FC Kahuna, MANDY, Booka Shade, Weatherall, Felix Da Housecat, Bryan Black, Mugwump, Vector Lovers, Dan Ghenacia, Damian Lazarus, The Presets, Padded Cell, Ewan Pearson and Black Strobe grace the stage and the night has become such a success that they regularly turn people away from the door once the clubs capacity of 500 has been reached.
