Hello peeps. My name is Theophilus (Kevlon,Lord BK of Lambeth, Bringer of Kaos) Simpson. Always had a fasination with sounds and music from a very young. I was raised in Stockwell SW9, South London. Just down the road from Brixton in a multi cultral comunity. As a child I always look forward to when my dad would turn on his amp to play his records he just bought in Brixton or recieved in the mail from Jamaica. The bass would rattle the windows and my mum would tell him to turn it down. From then I knew I wanted to be able to do the same thing. My mum would buy me instruments to play like a toy Baby Piano that would cost no more than a couple of pounds in the market or a uckalali (can't spell that) to this day can only play Yellow bird. In primary school I had one violin lesson. When I went to secoundry school (Stockwell park) the music department was one of the best in the counrty (to me that is). We all got a chance to use all the latest technology like samplers that only recorded for a few seconds, Roland drum machines, reel to reel multi track recorders as well as the traditional instruments. I startrd taking Piano lessons, thats when my music teachers introduced me to Samba. That started to change my world, the way the drum would play now that is what I call funky. At home I was already playing around with what I had in doors such as one turntable and a load of records. I would play them at all sorts of speeds and stuff. Making my own breaks with the tapedeck(pause, play method). My mum took me to Jamaica back in 1986 and that also changed my view about music, the way people loved music so much they would wire up a car stereo with a big arse speaker to a motorbike or scooter. One of my Brothers, Everton would entertaint all his neighbours in his housing appertment every night with music he would play mega loud from a amplifier that looked like it had less power than a flies fart.
I have never lost the love of sound and music, the only reason I do what I do is my payback to the world for giving me something I love dearly. What you hear on any of my other pages is my interprtations of what can be done if you be open your mind to different styles and cultures. Check out the player. If you don't then blame my parents, siblings, teachers and real friends like Tamara Lyn Grant and Mark(Lightfinger)Logan for believing in me. Not too long ago I started to try and make my mark in this world by putting on live shows at The Telegraph, Brixton hill with the help of Alistar Johnson and Catherine Peacock. Now I have started my own little enterprise.Got two radio shows on Radio Peckham, Fat Laces presents The Mixtape with Chinners and LBK plus Fat Laces presents The Urban Sessions. Big thanks to Miranda, got nothing but love for you.Residents for The Urban Sessions are as follows-Yves Marasca, DJ Miss Mixit, Darrell of The Invaderz, K.C.Dee, D2K, Gambit, Joel North and Nik Zourbaris.
