I am a member & moderator of the Yahoo! Group
DOGTRANSPORTVOLUNTEERS ,
which is a central database for animal transport needs -- transfers of animals from pounds & shelters to rescues, foster homes, and forever homes.
I am also a proud member of the following rescues:
AUSTIN GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG RESCUE
PAPHAVEN RESCUE
COL POTTER CAIRN RESCUE NETWORK
I'm happily married and have a wonderful 12 y/o son. I'm disabled due to Multiple Sclerosis but you'd not know it to look at me -- most days. I spend endless hours working in animal rescue as part of the rescues mentioned above, doing independent rescue, and as vice president of the non-profit Animal Crisis Team.
We have several pets, including a 90-pound lab, a 16-pound Chihuahua mix, a 7-pound Chihuahua, a 7-pound Papillon/Chihuahua mix (our foster failure), and are usually fostering at least one other pupper. Scratch that. We now have our 2nd foster failure, Ronny the Papillon/Chihuahua mix. I think we'll have to do only short-term/emergency fostering now, at least that's what I told hubby I agreed to in order to be able to keep Ronny. lol We also have a guinea pig. Outside the house, we have a cat and a half. The neighbor's cat has not gone home in 2 years & that's where the half-a-cat comes from -- he pays the vet bills & for the flea/tick preventative and we provide the food and lovin'. Of course, there are also the wild cats and the raccoons and the deer that we feed daily. I think the armadillo lives here too because our yard is full of holes and he's become so accustomed to us that he doesn't even hide when we walk the dogs at night.
