Anya is in a new foster home in New Port Richey, FL This lady is truly a sweet, quiet, peaceful, no-problem lady. She loves people and other dogs; loves to play, go for rides, walks, etc. There isn't a mean or anxious bone in her body. She's a wonderful girl that will give so much love to someone in her future. She is probably around 25 to 30 pounds, about 3 to 4 years old, and truly a love. She loves her crate and can be found taking naps on her blanky. She's been wonderful around the other dogs and children of all sizes - as long as the child has also been taught how to behave with dogs. She will need grooming now and then.
Baby girl is another abused and starving 'pup' found. The vet said she is at least 20 pounds underweight, she is probably about 9 months old and she has already been used to breed more Pit Bull Terrier pups. We have had her vetted so she has her shots and she will be spayed shortly. Her demeanor is loving and sweet and she shows no problem around other dogs or any people. She has been boarded at a special pet resort where she encounters dogs of all types and sizes and she has been wonderful with them. She loves everyone she comes in contact with and will make a wonderful companion for some family.
Sweet, sweet Blossom. Here is what we have figured out concerning Blossom being found today (2/1/08). Because Blossom appears to be almost blind, if not totally blind, there is no way she found her way to a pet resort by herself. We feel she had been kept in someone's yard with little if any food and water, and definitely no care or attention, and then she was dumped behind a pet resort earlier today where she was found. Because of her lack of sight, she didn't just wander up to this location! Those that have been around her, including our vet's office, find her to be sweet and loving. She was given a bath because every inche of her was covered with fleas and her coat was so matted that it had to hurt with pulling her skin. Once she leaves the vet's office this afternoon, she will feel good, she will have food in her tummy (good food), she won't have a flea on her, she will have all her shots and will have been checked over to make sure she is okay. She will sleep on a doggie bed INSIDE tonight and tomorrow she will awaken to more good food, love and attention! If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting our Bloosom - let us know.
Brie has all the goodness you look for in a Golden Retriever. She is sweet, quiet, loving, peaceful, no problem whatsoever. She is such a loving girl, and quite sensitive and would make a wonderful addition and bring much love to your family.
DD is a VERY special girl. She is house, crate, and leash trained; wonderful with everyone of all ages and with other dogs, with whom she loves to play. DD is a very affectionate loving girl of about 3 years. She was surrendered only because her mom was away so much of the time and she was too alone. You are welcomed to talk with her foster mom, Flo, at 813.210.1523. We require you to fill out an application before meeting our companions. It is at www.heidislegacydogrescue.com
This is Dodger, he arrived 02/07/08. He is about 1yr old and a sweet boy. Dodger will do fine in a home where either he can be the king or maybe one small friend to play with in time. He does not do well with big dogs. He has been okay with the small ones in his foster home. He is good with everyone people wise that he has met, however a home with children 7yrs and up would be best. Since he has been here his personality is really starting to show, he loves to play with the doggie toys. He is doing good with house training, he is crate trained and knows how to use the doggie door. Dodger has been neutered, micro-chipped and brought up to date on all of his shots including rabies, he is also on flea and heartworm prevention.
Meet Fonzie! Fonzie will be with us the last week of February, he is traveling from Miami. We really don't know anything about him yet so please check back.
KIRA: 1 yr female pitbull-viszla mix. This sweet girl is small at 35# and very active. She loves all animals, dogs and cats however tends to do better with bigger dogs due to her rough play. She was found tied to a fence a month ago with severe demo..ic mange which is not contagious to other dogs, cats or people. As you can see, she still has some sparse hair but in just one month her skin had cleared up miraculously and she will be all clear very soon. She is heartworm negative and has been vaccinated / dewormed. She is scheduled to be spayed on March 3/08 as we wanted to give her demodex time to clear. She is a great dog and just wants to play and be loved. She has no aggressive tendencies and loves to play with her toys and bigger dogs. She needs a placement as soon as possible as she is currently being fostered in a home with several cats and small dogs. If you would like further information or to meet Kira, please do not hesitate to contact her foster mom, Nadine at: [email protected].
Meet Koda, also known as Koda Bear. Koda came to us around December, 2007, from Hillsborough County Animal Services where she was an owner-surrender due to a divorce. Koda is a 2 ½ year old pure breed gorgeous GSD. She is a big doll, weighing almost 80 lbs! Don't let her size intimidate you, she is a big teddy bear! She's crate trained, house broken, and appears to know basic commands. She walks great on a gentle leader. She's great with people but maybe best as an only dog until she gets some more appropriate training, which we're working on now. Koda came to us heart worm positive. She is currently in process of receiving the gentle treatment method and any adopter will need to continue her regimen but it is simple and not expensive. She appears to have an allergy because a couple of her feet itch but we are looking into that - hence, socks on her feet.
Meet Little Sprout! THIS IS A REALLY NEAT LITTLE GUY of about 20 pounds. He's sweet and enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He is affectionate yet not overly kissy. Little Sprout would love to have a family of his own? If you are looking for a sweet little guy to join your family, please come and visit this sweetheart!
Lucky is yet another stray that luckily found his way to one of our volunteers for safety. As you can see, Lucky was starving. We believe he had been dumped intentionally because he was seen for a couple of days staying in one particular area and that is a good indication that he knew he was lost and he was waiting for his owner to return for him. We have seen that scenario way too many times. Usually after 48 hours or more, the poor dog will start wandering because of thirst and hunger. Well, Lucky has plenty to eat and drink, and a comfy bed to rest his head on. His demeanor like that of most hounds, is sweet and gentle. He get along with the other dogs in his foster home no matter whether they are small or large.
Mel is a sweet little guy who is 5-6 months old. He weighs 10 pounds and is nothing but pure love! Mel LOVES everyone and every thing and is just a joy.
Remember Moxy from Chattooga AC in GA? Puppy breath all over the place. We have no idea what daddy was but these pups are gorgeous. Mom is a beautiful and very loving and gentle Yellow Lab that was going to be put down while pregnant but we couldn't let that happen. The pups were born 12/23/07 and should be ready for their new homes after 2/17 or so. They have had their first set of shots and that went well. They are playing now, occasionally howling like little wolves, and are the sweetest little guys and girls ranging from 3 pounds to 7 pounds. They will only be adopted on a spay/neuter agreement
Meet Nelly, she is a very gentle lady. Nelly will do good in a home that has children 7yrs and older. Apparently she has been trained to go potty on concrete, like a patio or lanai so we are working on that. Nelly is very very sweet. She is what they call an apple head and she is beautiful. She is about 7yrs old and an owner surrender. They said she did not get along with their other dog who came recently to their family. I have noticed that she prefers to stay away from the other dogs, and she does not care for the big dogs at all the small ones she tolerates. She also loves belly rubs and to be with you. If interested contact me at the email above in this description.
This sweet 1 yr old female Shepherd-Keeshond mix named Nubbins was given her name because of her nubby tail. She is extremely healthy and social. She loves people, kids, dogs of all sizes and cats. She weighs 55# and is full grown. She is a very smart girl, learns quickly and wants to please. She rides well in the car and is quiet in her crate. This beautiful girl was saved from a very high-kill shelter where she only had 3 days to find her owner or be placed into rescue. She was saved as the final bell tolled. Won't you please give her a home filled with the love and attention she deserves? Please contact her foster mom, Nadine at: [email protected] for further information or to meet Nubbins. Thanks so much for considering sweet Nubbins. She is a great dog!!!
Oscar is a very sweet boy and just adorable. Oscar's coloring is liver or dark chocolate and white. Oscar needs someone that knows about puppies and how to house train, crate train etc. and has loads of potential. WE think that Oscar is about 10-12 weeks old.
For information on sweet Oscar, please contact foster mom Donnie @ 1-813-681-7420 or email [email protected]
Here is the adorable and plump Peanut. Her owners loved and cared for her for 12 years, then her owners probably decided to 'trade her in' for a new puppy. They tore her away from the only home she ever knew and dumped her at the pound, left for DEAD! She was moments away from being euthanised with the loving staff at Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue saw her beautiful eyes and saved her life. Won't you adopt this angel? If you don't have room for a permanent addition, please consider fostering.
Spike lost his home because of a pet limit in the mobile home park where he was living but even though it was his loss, it is our win and will be his. He is a sweet, sweet boy and very affectionate. If your feet or back get cold at night then Spike is there to warm everything up. He is a cuddler and a lover, yet he lays still in bed and doesn't bother you. He is not at all hyper but more reserved. He gives affection freely and accepts it graciously. He will make some family a marvelous addition. We have to get him vetted but that won't take long. He's a tiny bit overweight and is about about 15 to 20 pounds.
Meet Coco! He was rescued from a high kill shelter where he didn’t have a chance without the help of one of our volunteers. He is about nine years old and has cataracts, but is able to see some shadows. That doesn’t stop him a bit from being the loving boy that he is. He follows you around and to be picked up and loved! He is very low key, house trained, quiet and is a wonderful companion.
Coming soon--Tippy!
