The history of Down Home in Europe starts in the streets of Barcelona in Summer 2001. There they met the Serbian bass player, Ivan Kovacevic, and Hernán Senra, also known as 'Chino' (who, at vocals and guitar, led the formation in Buenos Aires, his city)Then Duska Miscevic, also Serbian, joined the group. She plays alto sax, and they played as a trio for almost 2 years, and they thought about expand to a quintet; risky project, due to the possibilities of the musical scene of Barcelona.
They finally succeded, and the band had its first show in March 2003, with the Catalan drummer Roger Guà rdia, and the Canarian tenor sax, Gilberto Rivero. All the musicians had already experience, and different influences, and that was their first step as Down Home. From that show on, they have in their repertoire original tunes, making the audience enjoy swing, boogie, ska, blues and jump blues. But keeping also the classics, like Louis Prima or Louis Jordan, always with the particular 'slide' sound and the own arrangements of the band.
From February 2004, the tenor sax is the Catalan Pol Prats, and that makes the current formation.Actually the band is working promoting their first cd "Running out of time" (El Toro Records) and getting ready for their second release...
