After graduating from Duke University, Melvin Brown moved on to assist his first cousin, Power Music Manager Johnny Wright who has been responsible for the success of superstars such as The Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Brittany Spears and more. In 2002 Brown came across a demo that was what he perceived to be the next mega star of music. It was a sound he had never heard and knew it would capture the nation. It was no one other than AKON, Brown worked relentlessly to gain exposure of the now acclaimed single “Locked Up†that became the theme song to neighborhoods across America. Melvin proceeded to guide Akon's career from unknown status to being an international superstar with sold out tours all over the world and millions in record sales. Melvin Brown is currently co-owner and C.E.O. of Konvict Muzik which he and Akon founded in 2003. Recently Konvict Muzik has launched an International office.
