You may have seen her cruising on a hot summer day through the urban
streets of Dallas with 97.9’s infamous Beat Squad or Sunday nights
on your television set during Driversselect’s DANCE CLUB 21. The
talented female spinstress is making a name for herself in more ways
than one.
Born Evelina Monroe, the Boston native by way of her hometown, Chicago,
purchased her very own first set of turntables at the age of
eighteen after being mesmerized through countless hours of BET’s Rap
City.lol.
“I thought the art was cool and I always had a love for music,
especially for hip hop and R&B.â€.
Monroe was formally educated in New Orleans at the historical Dillard
University where she received a degree in mass communications. While at
Dillard, she embarked on her path of DJ-ing as an on-air personality on
the campus’ radio station WDUB. In addition to joining the school’s
chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she also later became
WDUB’s music director..
While at Dillard, E.V.E. got her official first taste of radio at
New Orleans’ HOT 104.5 KNOU and she started to seriously consider a
career in DJ-ing. DJ E.V.E.’s dream of relocating to Texas became a
reality sooner than expected however, and moved to Dallas where she now
works for number one hip-hop and R&B station 97.9 THE BEAT..
Since relocating to Texas E.V.E. has appeared in numerous venues such as
MAXWELL’S and the popular CLUB ONE. Her accomplishments include the completion of mixtapes including a series called “Holla @ Me†where the Diva featuresunknown artists with hot music complete with interviews and a hot mix..
Spinning vinyl is not her only talent! The Diva also has a flair for
design. She has pioneered her own company—TGE Media
where she contracts graphic design work for clients all over the metroplex. Designing a clothing line of her own seemed like
the next logical step! She calls it EXTRAV and it can be
seen late nights on DANCE CLUB 21 as well.Currently, you can catch her the popular teen club IGUAN in Dallas every Saturday night!!!Check out this video:
