About Me

Plan 9 1996-2004
Plan 9 was formed in late 1996 by Reine and Thomas after playing together in a KISS cover band (Reine as Paul and Thomas, breathing fire and spitting blood as Gene). The goal was to make fun music with lots of energy, a couple of songs were written and to try them out they asked friends Petri and Jonny for help. Everything worked well and Plan 9 was born. Taking their name from Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space.
The first demo, Energy Rock'n'Roll was just what the title suggests. Fast punk rock'n'roll with glam rock influences. It got great reviews and caught the attention of Sator guitar player and producer Chips Kiesbye (Hellacopters, Sahara Hotnights, Nomads, Millencolin etc.) who said he was interested in working together. The rest of 1997 was spent recording new songs for a couple of compilation CDs and demos...
January 1998 started the recording of the "Dead Inside" demo, to make it impossible for the music industry to avoid Plan 9 it was made in 500 copies and sent to practically every record label, music magazine, fanzine interested in punk/rock'n'roll all over the world. In July german punk label We Bite Records offer the band a contract. After negotiations the band signs with them in september.
February 1999 "Dead Inside" was officially released and recieved good reviews. This being in the middle of the scandinavian punk rock boom, Kerrang gave it KKK saying that Plan 9 could've been the saviours of rock'n'roll if it would've been released a year earlier... hmm.
The new songs take a slightly different direction when the band decide to cut back on the punk and give more room for the 80's glam/sleaze influences like Mötley Crüe, Faster Pussycat, Dogs D'Amour, Gn'R, Pretty Boy Floyd and Poison.
In november Plan 9 sets up a meeting with Chips Kiesbye and it was decided that he would be the producer for what would become Generation Action. It was recorded in a little less than three weeks in jan/feb 2000 at Music-a-matic in Gothenburg.
It's about this time things are starting to get really bad with We Bite Records, Plan 9 sent them demos of the new songs and kept them informed about the recording. But they stopped returning mails and avoiding mails and when it came to pay for the studio the band still hadn't heard from them, so in the end the band ended up taking a loan to pay for it. When they finally hear from We Bite they had gotten cold feet, they said they didn't know how to promote that kind of music. They did punk, not glam rock.
Now the band found themselves without contract with a new album and in debt. They do gigs around sweden and norway, start writing new material and looking for a new label to release the finished album.
Generation Action is released by Feedback Boogie Records in march 2001 and gets KKKK in Kerrang. More gigs around sweden and norway... Around the summer 2001 cracks are starting to appear in the band and in september Thomas informs the band that he's leaving. The band wanted to do more modern and heavier rock while Thomas wanted a more rootsy rock'n'roll sound. So Thomas left to start Love Injections with KJ and Tobbe who just quit the Jackals.
Andreas joins the band, and they tour Spain before Petri leaves to move to LA. Manx from the Scarecrows take over the bass duties and they tour europe with Faster Pussycat and Bang Tango. A couple of demos are made with a heavier sound. When Jonny leaves in 2005, Reine, Andreas and Manx decide to let Plan Nine die and continue under a new moniker... Debbie Ray. Thomas is making music under the name Beggars & Thieves.
