About Me

Billy Disciple
Billy Disciple began his professional DJ career in 1994 at the young age of seventeen. Prior to the start of his career, Billy had spent the previous five years developing his skills, as well as his knowledge of house music and the New York City underground club scene. Spending countless hours studying and collecting different genres of electronic music in an effort to develop his own unique style of mixing, Billy's preparation finally paid off when one of his mix tapes fell into the hands of superstar club promoter Matt B (Now Matt Edwards of Trendroid). During this period, Matt B. co-hosted several of New York City's biggest parties including Sexuality Saturday's at the Limelight, in addition to numerous events at the Tunnel and Club USA. In no time at all, Billy found himself making guest appearances at the Limelight where he opened for such legendary New York DJ's as Frankie Bones, Joey Beltram, James Christian, and Scott Richmond. Upon his graduation from high school, Billy continued to DJ while attending Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. It was while at Marist that Billy was approached by DJ Rob Devs and Brian Paste of the mighty Translucent Sound Squad. Billy quickly became one of the groups driving forces, and subsequently played a vital role in many of New York's most memorable raves and "outlaw" events. During his tenure with Translucent, Billy held local residencies at The Chance and Club Confetti's in Poughkeepsie, in addition to a bi-monthly residency at Club Axis in Boston, all while spinning at countless raves along the east coast where he shared the bill with DJ's like Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, Halo, Terry Mullan, and Scott Henry. In 1998, Billy relocated to Orlando, Florida with the hope of bringing the New York City house sound to Orlando's break beat dominated scene. In only two weeks, he landed a job at Orlando's top record shop: Vinyl Frontier. Here he would forge a relationship with veteran DJ Cliff Tangredi and the up-and-coming Torre Halscott of Dubnetwork Records. Joining forces with the like-minded Halscott, Billy began to acquire New York City style hard house and tech house in order to incorporate these genres into Vinyl Frontier's inventory. The move proved to be a success, and shortly thereafter, Billy began his residency at Orlando's only afterhours spot, Club H2O. Week after week Billy showcased his diverse musical style and quickly developed a huge following. It was not unusual to run into clubbers who had traveled from as far as Tampa and Miami to hear one of Billy's sets. In 2001, the Orlando Weekly (an Orlando area newspaper) deemed Billy's night, "Sounds of the New York Underground", to be one of the best afterhours in the state. As a DJ, Billy is known for his flawless mixing, brilliant programming, and remarkable ability to seamlessly fuse multiple genres of house and techno without ever losing the groove; an ability that is the result of years honing his skills behind the decks. Billy believes that New York City nightlife is on the verge of another huge explosion, and he plans to re-emerge as one of the key figures driving it to a new level.
