DARN YANKEES: THE COMEDY SUPERGROUP IS...
Mel Cowan used to live in Texas, but now lives in Los Angeles, California where dreams are forged from rainbows and ideals, then crushed into fine powder and used to make those fake Oscar statues that they sell in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. He is a co-founder of the sketch/insurgent groups Animals from the Future and Farce Force 5. Currently, he performs on the Harold team Sentimental Lady at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. In his spare time, he writes screenplays and rocks people's faces off. He's delighted to be a part of the comedy machine that is the Darn Yankees.
Ryan McKee has been both a lover and a fighter. LOVER: Six of his
ex-girlfriends are married. He attended one of their weddings, but was
asked to leave after drinking too much. FIGHTER: His freshman year of
high school, he was involved in roughly 13 physical altercations. One
of his opponents died after Ryan shoved him over a bench (the death
occurred during a car crash three years later).
He's also held a variety of jobs: a high school geography teacher, a
Forest Service firefighter, a grocery store janitor, an assistant to
the assistant library archivist, a reviewer of pornography for Playtime
Magazine, and a trivia writer for video games.
He performs standup comedy and writes a lot.
Here is a partial list of restaurants in Los Angeles where Ryan has
eaten:
Star of India,
Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles,
Birds Restaurant,
Bossa Nova,
El Chavo,
Hard Times Pizza
James Pumphrey is a comedic writer "slash" performer based in Los Angeles. He calls UCB home. He does it all the time. It's so annoying. Like, "Hey, I'm going to this show, at home, later tonight." I wish that he would die. Some show credits include F'ed Up and Illegal Videos, Jimmy Pardo's Dance Party, Not Too Shabby, Dirtiest Sketch in LA Contest (1st place winner), UCB Cagematch, Filet O' Film and he has hosted Harold Night. He also makes short movies that are constantly getting longer.
Cale Hartmann is a Los Angeles based sketch comedy writer and performer, as well as a stand-up comic and an improviser. Ya know... a comedian. He makes short films that some would say are "a little on the funny side". He is a regular performer at the UCBTLA. Some show credits include F'ed Up and Illegal Videos, Jimmy Pardo's Dance Party, Not Too Shabby, Dirtiest Sketch in LA Contest (1st place winner), UCB Cagematch, Filet O' Film, and he has hosted Harold Night. He has blue eyes and will let you look at them. Cale is a member of the UCB Harold team Sentimental Lady. At 21, he is the youngest person on a UCBTLA Harold Team. At 45, he is not.
Ron Babcock is a comedian and filmmaker who grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which is famous for mining coal and depression. He now lives in Los Angeles, which is famous for just depression. He has earned a reputation among his peers as a "consistently funny and original comic who is not afraid to take chances." He has also earned a reputation for "attributing quotes to other people that he himself wrote."
