Music:

Well, being one of those 'baby boomers' I just couldn't help myself - Elvis was my inspiration, those four young lads from Liverpool thrilled me, Johny Cash, Roy Orbison, the Tamla Motown sound explosion, who could blame us for thinking we had it all. Still, amazing music continues to abound, for me Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, Alison Kraus, Elton John, Don McLean, Annie Lennox, the list just keeps on growing. Lucky us, we didn't have it all after all. Thankfully there is still plenty more out there for our continued delight and delectation.

Television:

I'm really enjoying Dragons' Den at the moment, fascinating to see how the investors suss out the best places for their cash. Big Cat Diary has been wonderful, the cats and the presenters! Call me a sad person but Ann Maurice and her 'messy house' makeovers have always intrigued me and I am looking forward to her new series - Interior Rivalry, where she will be searching for her successor (who could ever take her place? Mrs Monsoon, perhaps there's a job there for you ??).

Books:

I love reading. TV and cinema just can't compete with the pictures I can make in my head as I turn those pages. Give me intrigue, mystery, characters, suspense and sometimes a bit of light relief, humour and laughter.Favourite authors and books: Mary Stewart's Merlin Trilogy (also fourth book in the series 'The Wicked Day').Enormous amounts of Stephen King's work, 'The Shining' stands out as being pretty darn scary, but its not all horror - 'The Shawshank Redemption' more down to earth, is both a great read and a superb film.Barbara Erskine, for me, has everything, particularly her novel 'Lady of Hay', this could possibly be my favourite book.P J Wodehouse's 'Jeeves and Wooster', hilarious adventures - portrayed perfectly by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in the 1990s T.V. adaptation.
