Remy Stroomer

About Me

Remy Stroomer is born 9 October 1979 in Haarlem, The Netherlands. At the age of 9 years he starts to take keyboard-lessons, and around that time the first little compositions have already been created.
In 1999 Remy studies sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands. Having the intention to learn from this vision on music in a way to integrate and apply this into his own music. At a certain point it comes clear that a lot of things that are being taught there, struggled a lot with the ideas and thoughts Remy has about making music, and after having completed the second year, he decides to quit this study and chooses to keep on making music in the way he feels comfortable with. Doing his own thing, exposing his own dreams, feelings, thoughts and experiences to the listener.
Besides all kind of music Remy has listened so far, varying from classical to hard-rock, it also comes clear that he also has listened more then once to the music of Klaus Schulze. Though Remy tries to let hear his own things (which might become more clear in his recent work), Schulze is mostly mentioned in the reviews to compare with Remy's music (because people use to compare something new with something common).
In 1999 Remy's first album, Exhibition of Dreams, has been released as 2-CD-R on the AKH Records label (which Remy owns together with Ewout Koek). It doesn't take too long before all copies are sold out, and when one copy comes in hands of Dutch EM mail-order Groove Unlimited, it is decided that a new album will be released nearly a year later. This time an official cd, a co-operation of AKH Records and Groove Unlimited. This album, The Art Of Imagination, becomes more a success than expected, and in 2001 it even wins the third price in the category "Best newcomer electronic music" at the well-acclaimed German "Schwingungen-Festival."
With his album Sense, Remy puts his own stamp more and more on his music, letting hear - besides the "usual" electronics - more experimental parts, as well as some excellent vocals from Mattie (Todd The Nose).
This Is Not The End is Remy's most recent project, which will see the light during the annual E-Day Festival, to be held at the TU Auditorium, Eindhoven, April 13th 2008. Besides the presentation of his new cd, there will also be a 90-minute performance with completely new music!
