About Me

I made my myspace layout using Pimp-My-Profile.com

Sorry for the totally obnoxious blag here folks but I'm told it has to be done so here it is!
I started out collecting music when I was about 8 years old, of course I had to have a few years to refine my tastes when one evening I was drinking down at The Box and was intently watching a keen fellow by the name of Greg Churchill spinning records in spectacular style and it was then that I realised what I could do with all this music I had.
So I started practising.
In those early days it was House music and Big Beat that had my attention (including an evergrowing obsession with The Freestylers We Rock Hard album which sowed the seeds for my future direction) but ironically when I finally decided to try and stick my neck out and get some gigs as a player of house, my attention had been lured and attracted by this new form of breakbeat music that had caught my attention when I had seen Adam Freeland play at the Big Day Out in 01.
After getting some experience in clubs and having some very funny experiences testing breaks out on unsuspecting house peeps, I found my way to the Supper Club and was discovered as a drunken mess by Page-3 one evening trying to knit together a whole lot of funky breaks.
After a huge (well this is what I say but in reality I can't remember sh*t!) debut at Nubreaks down at Fubar, I went on playing regularly at Fubar until I was surprisingly selected to open for Australian breakbeat megastar Kid Kenobi in August of 04 in the main room at Fu. After a nerve racked alcohol assisted set I somehow managed to pull the wool over everyones eyes into believing that I had played well. Oh the fools!! Since then, I have supported Internationals like The Freestylers, Rennie Pilgrem (Who singled me out after the show for playing the "perfect warm up set full of fat funk"), The Breakfastaz, Deekline & Wizard, Napt, Merka, Scratch Perverts, Adam Freeland, Freq Nasty, Dub Pistols, Kid Kenobi, Koma & Bones, Dopamine, JDS, DJ Hyper, Meat Katie, Def Inc, Lisa Lashes (yes Lisa Lashes - she was doing a breaks set and quite well too!)
and have played alongside all the respected local djs like Greg Churchill, Timmy Schumacher, Funkin'slocuts, Page-3, Angela Fisken, Minuit and more! I have played at parties such as Summadayze, Gatecrasher, Slinky, Together, Fu's 5th & 6th birthdays, Technique, Shock Rockers, Greg Churchill's Nola Scream release party, Deck Junkies, Quality Breakers, Loki & Lowalk's Seamrider release party, Electroliner (for which I did a promo cd for, if you'd like a copy of this, please contact me and I'll supply you with a URL which you can download it from) and played at nights at Asta, Ink, Fu, Code, Calibre, Coherant, The Studio, The St James (not the main room yet tho :-( ), Ellerslie Convention Centre, Bacio and Morrison (RIP).

I have traveled out of Auckland to New Plymouth, Tauranga's outstanding Buddha Lounge (the first of which was a night which broke records over the bar and featured famous NZ musicians such as Bic Runga, Boh Runga, Anika Moa and Shayne Carter dancing in the crowd!!! Yeah it was completely surreal, hahahaha) and played at Akomplis's respected Built To Break night at Catalyst in Hamilton noting that Hamilton crowds are some of the best crowds to play to! I have also put my promoters hat on of recent and I'm half the brains behind the awesome Nusound parties down at Calibre, the first of which was the busiest night Calibre had had for over a year up to that point! The point of which I aim to have an open ended music policy for respected djs to be able to play whatever they want and have open minded punters enjoy their tastes in music. I have also co-promoted the night Tight Squad with fellow disc jockeys Randomplay, Mark Emerson & Rob Knight, the first of which was a hell of night and rocked Code to it's foundations. Now Randomplay and myself have combined our powers and have formed New Skool Funk, a night about... well.... ourselves!!

When I get drunk, I like to ramble on about my tune-age like an arrogant prick and I say stupid crap like "I describe my music as funky, not too hard, not too soft, just funky as f*ck! Gimme those cowbells and funky b-lines and swinging breakbeats fools!!"

I also like to pick my nose when nobody is watching...
