Jorge Navas

Considered by the Colombian press as one of the new talents of the national cinematography and supported by a wide and varied filmography, awarded national and internationally. Jorge Navas studied Communications at the Valle University in Cali. He was born in 1973 and at the age of 19 he starts exploring the world of images guided by a strong documentary and conceptual instinct.He has taken several courses on aesthetic theory, audio visual analysis and in his works he has experimented and explored several genres and formats, passing through documentaries, experimental video, music videos, advertising and fiction.His images have always looked for a compromise with the Colombian reality or with the metaphor of this reality, along with thematic questions, contemporary registers, formal experimentation and contemplative narration.He has acted as jury and has given conferences in festivals and national and international events. He has given training work shops, travelling along the country with the Ministry of Culture of Colombia and he has worked on television projects. He is also part of an association of new young filmmakers and producers who pretend to join efforts to give new energy and to renew the passive national cinematography---------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------- Considerado por la prensa colombiana como uno de los nuevos talentos de la cinematografía nacional y respaldado por una amplia y variada filmografía, premiada nacional e internacionalmente, Jorge Navas estudió comunicación social en la universidad del Valle en la ciudad de Cali, Colombia. Nacido en 1973, desde los 19 años empieza a explorar el mundo de la imagen guiado por un instinto fuertemente documental y conceptual. Ha realizado numerosos cursos de teoría estética, análisis audiovisual y en sus trabajos ha experimentado y explorado diferentes géneros y formatos, pasando por el documental, el video experimental, el video clip, la publicidad y la ficción.Sus imágenes han buscado siempre un compromiso con la realidad colombiana o con la metaforización de esta misma realidad, acompañada de cuestionamientos temáticos, registros contemporáneos, experimentaciones formales y narraciones contemplativas.Ha participado como jurado y conferencista en festivales y eventos nacionales e internacionales, ha dictado talleres de capacitación, viajando por el país, con el Ministerio de Cultura de Colombia y ha trabajado para proyectos de televisión. Hace parte también de una asociación de nuevos jóvenes directores y productores de cine quienes están buscando unir sus fuerzas para dinamizar y renovar la cinematografía nacional.
