SELO (Selahattin Yilmaz) began playing the Darbuka -a Middle Eastern traditional goblet drum- from his childhood on in the state Hatay in the southern region of Turkey. He is a versatile percussionist and played in different Worldmusic formations since his arrival to the Netherlands in 1999. Combining his roots as a Turkish folkloric drummer with all kinds of different Worlmusic and Pop styles, he created a unique way of expressing his musicality in the contemporary world of fusion. The recordings on Myspace are the result of his time working with the Rotterdam-based formation called "Los Feministas".
Selo is now studying Turkish percussion at Rotterdam Conservatory (Codarts).
